I agree it's his right to say it, though is motive I would say is totally wrong. I am a strong believer of freedom of speech, do you guys think it's right for the government to outlaw hate speech? I don't. |

without students there would be no schoools therefore students are teh consumers and schools are the suppliers, so since if we follow the logic that the customer is always right, i think the school would be wrong to argue with something as trivial as a sign |

Quantumlight.
Schools are pretty much mandetory. Since everyone is forced to come together in one building compromise is required. For safety, security, and general get alongedness, Absolute freedom of speech is limited. Freedom of movement is limited. privacy of locker are all subject to the whim of the school withing guidelines setforth by the community. |

exactly ep...
they are facilities that should be able to "govern" themselves to a certain point... obviously all the schools families should get to gether or vote on general rules...
but, you really truly only need 1 rule.
thats common sense.
i think ever since july 1969... Americans have been loosing the ability to acquire "common sense"... and as a by-product we can't even agree on the most simple things in society and both major parties are always at each others throats...
common sense needs to prevail if we want to keep this country united. |

Personal anecdote --
35 years ago, I was student body president of my high school. The school board created a task force to come up with recommendations for a dress code. (Note that this was the height of the Vietnam war era.) My position guaranteed me a seat on the task force, along with administrators, teachers, and parents.
After weeks of meetings, we concluded that our task was misguided. That there was, in fact, no dress code problem. And therefore no solution or new policy was needed!
My point? School boards continue to create problems for themselves where none really exist. It's as if they look around and say "Hey, here I am! What can I fix (read f___ up)?" |
