If you want to perform fellatio on me, just say so.
| You must be confused; It would be cunnilingus in your case.

This is the Houston Chronicle: "Representative Ron Paul has long crusaded against a big central government. But he also" "represented a congressional district that's consistently among the top in Texas in its reliance on dollars from Washington. In the first nine months of the federal government's" fiscal "2006 fiscal year," "it received more than $4 billion." And they report, The Wall Street Journal, 65 earmark-targeted projects, $400 million that you have put into congressional bills for your district, which leads us to the Congressional Quarterly. "The Earmark Dossier of `Dr. No.' There isn't much that" Ron--Dr. "Ron Paul thinks the federal government should do. Apparently, though, earmarks" for his district "are OK. Paul is the sponsor of no fewer than 10 earmarks in the water resources bill," all benefiting his district. The Gulf Intercoastal Waterway: $32 million. The sunken ship you want to be moved from Freeport Harbor. The Bayou Navigation Channel. They talk about $8 million for shrimp fishermen.
...
REP. PAUL: You got it completely wrong. I've never voted for an earmark in my life.
MR. RUSSERT: No, but you put them in the bill.
REP. PAUL: I put it in because I represent people who are asking for some of their money back. But it doesn't cut any spending to vote against an earmark. And the Congress has the responsibility to spend the money. Why leave the money in the executive branch and let them spend the money?
MR. RUSSERT: Well, that's like, that's like saying you voted for it before you voted against it.
| In other words, he puts earmarks in the bills and then proceeds to vote against the bill, knowing that it will pass. That way he gets his cake and eats it too. The district gets the money and he can be on record as voting against earmarks.

I'm listening to/watching the interview now...it's a pretty bad one, and I'm not feeling so good about Ron Paul anymore. |

How long do you think he'd remain a congressman for his district if he didn't try to get the money for the projects his constituents wanted.
It's commonsense not hypocrisy. He has to work within the system now in place.
Russert asked to many questions about Pauls presidential run in 1988, it's hardly relevant to his platform 19 yrs later. |

It's commonsense not hypocrisy. He has to work within the system now in place. | It was his answers that bothered me. He said "you're confused," which didn't make much sense to me. Then, after he adds money for his constituency, he votes against the laws just to say he voted against 'em. Seems kind of sleazy to me. Then he blames it on the "system" and says it's "stolen" money. Sounds way too much like a loose cannon and conspiracy nut to me...and, while *cough*certain people*cough* like that, most of America will think he belongs in the loony bin. |
