People don't want to listen to honest straight-talk. And he's a big target for the Republican attack dogs. They don't have a problem eating their own.

Does your hatred for certain political parties...
| It's not about hatred. It's just that some parties smell less offensive than others. Republicans smell like shit. What else can I say. I tend to avoid shit. Shit and Republicans need to be buried. That tends to make both less offensive. |

Welcome to American Politics.
You still really haven't given a decent excuse/reasoning behind your choice... Not that ya need to, Im just curious as to why.

I "try" -- not always mind you, look at the CANDIDATE, and not the party he/she is affiliated with.

| I haven't made a "choice" as it's much too soon. But as I said, "It's doubtful [I would vote for him], don't ask me why." But since you asked so nice and all, since I'm not a registered Republican [YUCK! Yay!!] I won't be able to vote in the primaries and he won't make it out of them, or at at least it's highly doubtful he will. And don't forget that, although I respect the man and what he says, and I wouldn't be that disappointed if he became President, he's still a conservative and I'll always be a liberal...even when I grow up. Let's just say I'd vote for him 10 times before I voted once for Leiberrman.

I empathize with what you're saying, TOAD, but I think his congressional voting record speaks for itself. I also think people do want to hear honest straight-talk. I know I do, don't you? |

| Yes of course, but realistically, that's not what wins elections. At the end of the day, it will be the techniques of the hatchet men like Rove that will rule the day. They and their tactics are what wins elections. |

Shouldn't we decide? Everyone gives me the same argument: "He has no chance!" But they don't disagree with his message. Why can't the country band together for once for someone who truly belongs in the White House? |

Like all things that change, there needs to be a catalyst. I don't think people think things are "seriously in need of change" yet. People bitch and moan, but at the end of the day, they still stand by one die-hard party figurehead or another. They're either too afraid of change or they don't believe we need change.
Something needs to happen to really piss people off. Kind of like gas prices. People bitch and moan at $3+ per gallon prices, but they still drive like they don't care. Global warming is bad, people hate it, but no one is changing their habits. Nothing drastic has happened to precipitate a swift change.
It's like an elephant in the room. People see it, but it's just harmlessly sitting there. Once it starts trampling people and eating peoples' peanuts, they'll wake up and kick the elephant the hell out. |

The elephant has already started trampling people down, yet everyone else still does nothing.
If the people are not to afraid of the elephant to go against it, then they probably just stop caring about it because they believe fighting it would be hopeless. |
