Yes, the cost of living for me in CA would probably be around $2-3k per month. So probably about half of that $80k is gone after taxes and living expenses. Still, $40k+ a year to spend/save freely isn't bad, especially if you live in a nice area. Saving up $60k or more in 2 years would be good to get started.
