FORUM ISSUE: I draw the line at genocide.
I don't know exactly how long the "no holds barred" experiment has been going on at techimo. A year now? Overall, it has gone well though. People are more free to be themselves and I am sure the mods have had an amazing burden lifted from their shoulders. I like it.
The forums are now self-policing. There are now lots of offensive things that members and guests are now subjected to. But I think that there exists a line somewhere in forum standards that ought to not be crossed. While there are many things other members say that bother me or instances where they choose to resort to coarse insults, I have never had to resort to using the ignore feature to deal with it. I sort of prided myself in the fact that I did not have to.
I have reached a point with a forum member that has caused me to take that action.
When someone openly condones genocide, they have lost any status they might have had with me as a human being. As such, they have nothing valid to say that I need to bother trying to understand or even bother subjecting myself to.
Such ideas are also not fit for discussion in these forums IMO. In light of my opinion, I would ask that other members also place this member on their ignore list until such a time he can agree to post in an even remotely civilized fashion. I think that is a proper way of "self-policing".
Please feel free to post if you will join me in support. I would also value the opinions of other members as to the appropriateness of my action and of this post. Needless to say, Joko's opinion will be one that I will no longer entertain.

I didn't have an ignore list until jokostel drove me to it. He's the only one on it.

Just an awful thing to say, nevermind an awful mindset to have.

He once said he was going to fly down here to "beat the crap out of me and my family".

Negative: Joko's insipid comment.

Positive: Community-based feedback and resulting self-moderation in action.

Im just tired of the one way street thats going on here.
And if I did actually fire on a human being... itd only be on a 2 way firing range to begin with... anyone who has the balls to stand and fight deserves a chance. He who seeks vengeance must dig two graves. One for his enemy, and one for himself.-- Lao Tzu

Holy mackerel
I will say this:
We live in a free society where everyone is allowed to express their opinion, but the line has to be drawn somewhere and condemning a whole society for the actions of fundamentalist extremist lowers you to there "Standard".

Yes and No.
Im looking twoards the greater good... sometimes you have to fight fire with fire..
I HIGHLY doubt anything like that would ever happen... because itd be the end of days.
Nuclear holocaust on all sides...
Besides, you really think any nation would do such a thing? The ONLY reason we dropped the atomic/ hydrogen bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki is that we needed shear numbers erraticated, and moral to plummet. it was a last ditch effort before the invasion of Japan was to commence.
So, realistically... its what it'd LIKE to happen... not what would/should/could happen... but then again, its hard to say..

I only have two people on my ignore list, and he is hardly the most idiotic.
It is politically incorrect to direct your hatred of toward another group. Yes, it is written in the Quran that all infidels are to be killed, but they are just bluffing. They would never have the might to harm us. We should just ignore them. If we love them they will love us back, right?
So, no, I'm not putting anyone on my ignore list unless they have offended me personally with insults. And I think for a member to publicly "lobby" for other members to ostracize via "ignore", I would characterize as a power play of one member against another using other members as pawns.
I'll pass.Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

I had wera on my IGNORE LIST for about a day...but I can't stand censoring myself, so I removed him/her/it soon after I put him/her/it on.

, but Im tired of it all.

I prefer not to be stopped in the street just because someone decided my clothes were "wrong" or my hair was "too long". I do understand and partly agree with your point, but this was too much, IMO.
Do you think this was a legitimate...
