I like the snitching rewards program Epi.
Joko, the only problem I see with putting illegals into the armed forces is that I couldn't trust criminals with guns.
I think the problem would solve itself (I voted for no amnesty) if you follow this simple program. No legal residency/citizenship? No benefits of any kind. No hospital care, no food stamps, no free lunches, no schooling. No "Para Espaniol, oprima numero uno." Every government and public service should be solely in English. Businesses should also adhere to that rule (but that would only happen in a dream world).
Of course illegal immigration will always be there, just look at the border or North Korea with South Korea. They have land mines in place, and guards who shoot first and ask later, yet people still manage to sneak through (same with the N.Korea-China border). However, pretending the problem is gone by legalizing the problem is not a solution. |

would this not make sense?
"Amend constitution for birth citizenship 1 parent must be legal citizen or in process of citizenship "
If this is bad then why? |

Don't worry, recruiters are often times telling legitimate American citizens to lie about their criminal record - so does it really matter? |

No one dares bring up the truth. | Ooof. I am sorry to agree with you, Chuck. That is possibly one of the most foul things I've heard you say; yet unfortunately, I think you hit the nail on the head.
I was going to argue, you know, "the politics of desperation, yada, yada, where people (illegal immigrants) vote with their feet, yada, taking insane risks, yada yada..."
Damn. Yeah, I think you got it. Our polly-ticians work for the industrial elite, let's get over the fantasy that they represent you and me.
Illegal aliens constitute a HUGE segment of the (cheap, exploitable) work force. The politically employed know who puts them in office, and assume that American taxpayers will continue to cough up the Franklins.
Plus, as Surreal points out, capping 'em off takes an equal number of consumers out of the picture.
Sorry, Epidemic, this situation admits of no easy answers, as interesting as your idea is. And Socalgal blew an excellent tune, but even that fails in the face of these guys with their huaraches and fast feet.
I can only conclude that there is no solution to this problem, short of authorizing the Border Patrol to "shoot on sight".
Which nobody with any heart will endorse. Just IMO.

Historically it has been Labour that has advocated for restrictions on imegration while Industrialist wanted a pool of cheap labor.
Also, sayings like "the yelow peril" and "Rum, Rome [the Pope], and Rebellion" point tio a desire to keep the Country White and Protestent.
One of the reasons that imperialism didn't take off after the Spanish American War more than it did was fear of economic competion by Southern farmers of Cuban suger for exampe and a reluctance to bring in more (Spanish-speaking) Catholics.
Anyhow, mayor Bloomberg spoke the tth--err, almost --when he said that restaurants and other labor-intensive business would be hurt and close without cheap underrpaid labor (Were talking about $2 an hour in NYC !).
Actually prices would rise and landliords wouldn't be able to exact the high rents from restaurant owners.
It's not just rich industrialist --but the middle and lower class that oppse immigration --except when they think they benefit from their cheap labor.
