22 year old guy having sex with a 16 year old girl
Hi. Long time reader, first time poster.
I found this in a fitness forum.
A guy, 22, wants to have sex with a girl who's 16. I'm the dad of a 1 year old daughter. I am worried about her enough as it is, but I cant think of how much I'd worry about this if this was my daughter. I'm angry about this guy doing this, am I right to be angry? What would you do if your daughter was in this situation?
(to make things equal, you can read the 22 year old guys side on his blog,

Hi Dewayne2, Welcome to TechIMO!
If they both live in ONTARIO then it is ok.The legal age of consent in Ontario is 16.
Whether I (or anyone else)agree or disagree with it doesnt matter. Now if he uses FORCE or if the girl is under age for her area, then yes you would have a right to disagree. Dont forget that the age of consent here in the USA varies between states (some as young as 14) and regions as well as nations(some as young as 9-as long as they are married).
BTW 1. It seems apparent that the girl is willing to give him a try since she gave him her number. IF you were HER father, by the time she is ready to leave the nest, I would hope you would have taught her a lot more about the world than to simply sleep with the first man who walks through the door. UM, I dont know what state you live in, but you have at least 13 more years to work on being a good father to her and to teach her about the world. It goes without saying that you should teach her about the good things first, then the bad things. . .
BTW 2. The girl was likely working an angle to get him to come back to the store and buy more shirts.
EDIT: Footnote:In Canada, consensual activity with those over 12 may not be an offence if the accused is under 16 and less than two years older than the complainant.Last edited by no1_vern; September 25th, 2007 at 04:49 AM.

If you have a daughter, you have every right to be angry about this guy's blog.
First off: age of consent my ass, there's a HUGE difference between 22 and 16. Too much separation that young.
The real meat of it: the meat. What is really infuriating about the whole thing is that it's simply the story of a guy looking to fuck some girls. It's obvious he's interested in nothing else from ANY girl, and if it were my daughter, I'd definitely label this guy as a predator. Maybe he's in the legal, but he's a predator nonetheless.

somone said that the simple rule is 6 years in NC. I have not checked into it.
18 can do 12 (that one really freaks me out)
20 can do 14
23 can do 17 (this one don't bother me she is biologically ready and by no means a kid any longer)
probably the simple rule regarding legal should be sexual maturity. beyond that the parents should be responsible for keeping their daughter pure till marriage. mental maturity is what we allow it to be so I feel it is too arbitrary.
My daughters will pass sexual maturity and beyond under my rules and any attempts to deflower them will result in speedy lead flying at the farmer trying to sow his seed

If the sixteen year old WANTS to have sex with a 22 year old then she isn't mature enough. Period.

yeah because a 22 year old will do a much worse job of it than a fellow 16 year old. If you are going to give away your virginity why not at least have it done right.

Elsewhere in the world it is perfectly acceptable for an older male to take on a teen bride. Only in western culture is age spread a taboo.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, gospel of envy, and its only inherent virtue is in the equal sharing of misery.

it is funny the double standard as well.
35 year old woman teacher has people drooling at the kids luck when she nails her 15 year old student.
flip side is horrible.
As far as age spread I was 23 and she was over 40 and I would not trade the experience for all the tea in china
I am not sure I find this story so troubling on a purely age spread basis.
the age of consent i many states is set by purely random and without reason. historically and internationally it varies wildly with virtually equal results.

Strangely enough I was thinking that if the person was above the age of consent, s/he were able to make decisions for themselves. That is, - WITHOUT parental meddling.
The whole purpose of parents is to EDUCATE them and ENSURE each child reaches majority so the young adult can make decisions on how to RUN their own lives WITHOUT US. If you cant trust your child to make the correct decision by the age of consent, its time you question what your doing wrong and how to get the message across before its too late. They say technology slows down for no one. I think the issue here is not about the 16 year old it's about the 22 year old. What kind of looser wants, or needs, to dip that far back in age to get someone to diddle with. If it was a 21 year old and 27 year old it's not that big a deal since they are more like peers and are in the same social and life situation. I can guarantee you that in the case of anyone that old going after anyone that young the old person is terribly misadjusted. Looser. Period.
BTW I also didn't get to se the blog.

Should you be angry?
I don't think being angry leads you to a solution. I would take that as precaution for my future children, because I'm not married yet
But I do take this thing seriously.
With the correct control of my daughter (or your daughter), things won't happen that way round. The gap between the age 22 and 16, for me, isn't far wide. IMO, they both are matured enough to think what's right and what's wrong.
I'm not saying it's okay but if she was my daughter, I would be really upset, only if it was kind of like sex before marriage. I'm still with the old tradition way that sex must be (or should be) after marriage. Most Japanese still with the old tradition way.If only the dead can speak, then we will know what's happening to us all next...

When is the last time you have met a mature 16 year old? I work in a school district and see them everyday and they might be bright in school but they are dumb as rocks when it comes to common sense.
Granted there are some out there that might seem mature, but those are far and few between.

I say let people to their own problems. By 16 someone should be more than old enough to decide for themselves, hell, by then they can get a drivers license here in the US and get on the roads where the person can't only screw themselves up, but others around them.
The whole sex predator BS we have in the US is plain BS. Women always bitch about not having as many rights as men, but when it comes down to the laws they can get away with anything if they look good and play their cards right, and even if they don't then can still get away with a hell of a lot more than a guy can.
When an older female has sex with a 16 year old boy, it's not looked at as something bad, heck, most guys applaud the kid, but if an older guy would have sex with a 16 year old girl (even though a woman's brain is supposed to be more developed at that age) the guy would get thrown in prison and labeled as a sex offender, even if the girl were to say it was consensual."The problem with quotations on the internet is that the sources are hard to verify" - Abraham Lincoln

Epidemic is correct. The age concerning child abuse has a lot to do with the ages of the participants. I think that's why To Catch a Preditor sets their stings up with supposed 13 y/o.
