Things are the way they are now because of what happened in the past. I don't think sharing a bit of history is the same as "going nuclear", and I did think about what I was saying. This stuff is not ancient history, this is stuff that has happened within the lifetimes of people still living. When you think about gun laws (for example), you think about them with an historical perspective, don't you? This is no different.
The power of language is profound, and some knowledge of history is an essential part of understanding the present; and I don't think you actually disagree with either of those ideas. |

The only thing she is doing is dividing the democratic party, and making McCain a stronger candidate for the Republican party. June 3 is the deadline for Senators Obama, and Clinton for primary delegate votes for the presidential nomination. Regardless of how many votes they have...it will go to the super delegates to choose the winner. Senator Obama is winning in every category, including the peoples choice. For Clinton to win after June 3rd...the super delegates would have to go against the people, and vote for her instead of Obama. If that was to happen...the results would be very tragic not only for Obama, but for the people of the United States of America. The best thing for Clinton to do is drop out, and support the Democratic party/Obama for the Presidential post. The only thing she is doing is ruining her career at a later time for Senator re-elect. Maybe she'll fight on (I wont quit), and Obama chooses her as his Vice President. | What I would have liked to see her do is stay in the race, but start to campaign against McCain instead of Obama. The reason I'd like her to do this is to help get out the vote in the remaining states. There will be many important things on local ballots, and unfortunately many people would just not bother to vote if they felt they couldn't voice their opinion on the national election.
I've never understood this phenomenon, because, when it comes to voting, the more local an election, the more a single vote truly counts. Also, our daily lives are more profoundly affected by local government than by Washington. |

Clinton has the money and connections to buy her way in no matter what Obama wins. She won't quit no matter what. That is a shame and brings discontent to the Dem Party. If by some miracle that she does not get the nomination, it wouldn't surprise me to see her go as a write-in or Independent. She wants in very badly and by hook or by crook she will find a way in. It almost scares me to see all the money that is going to her. All that money means favors to be returned. So we boot one crook and liar for another.
"He who has the most money buys the presidency"!

My, my, my... I go to work this morning like a good capitalist so I can send another 45% of my daily pay to one government or another. I return and this thread has turned into a Clan meeting!
Obama is just going to have to deal with the charges of racism, and his poor judgement in hanging around a racist church. You are identified by the company you keep. That's just the way it is.
America was willing to accept him as an equal until he was exposed as an "eloquent" version of Jessie Jackson & Co. He wants to belong to the "Black Club", let him. It's his right. But don't expect everyone to ignore his sepratism from the mainstream thinking of America. What's next? Reparations?
Hillary has a hunting license to shoot at Obama as often as she wants. When she gets out of the race, she has to say nice things. How is she damaging Obama? By pointing out his vulnerabilities. She is not the media. She is trying to win the nomination. The media has picked theirs, but she isn't it and she doesn't care. She knows what many Democrats know - Obama is a fatally flawed candidate:
Race is a hurdle made impossible by his refusal to embrace mainstream white values. Instead, he embraced the tired old slave crap of Rev Wright. His wife is no better. They are still in that Afro time warp.
He is liberal to the left of Kennedy. He doesn't give a crap about the people who have a comfortable living. They are some kind of criminals in his mind. Newsflash: The United States is not made up of poor people.
He is going to punish our energy industry, pharmaceutical industry, and defense industries - all high paying important jobs. His tax and union policies will crush construction. His banking reforms will make buying a home nearly impossible without - you guessed it - government help and handouts.
He is going to tax the life out of the very people and businesses that give you a job. The public sector can't hire everyone. Costs go up and so do prices, sales fall unless you can't do without it - energy, medical care, and food. You'll just stop buying everything else. Am I missing something here? It's that way in every business I've seen. Price controls have been tried and failed, and windfall profits just raise costs and hurt efficiency.
He doesn't care about border security, photo id, or citizenship. The world is welcome to come to America any way they can get in - legal or otherwise.
He is going to allow the middle east to fall into tribal turmoil, and write his post 4 year memoiours about how he never thought our enemies were so evil. Iran is going to be threatening the region with nuclear weapons, which obviously ok with him since he's going to sit down with him for a little "chat". Please don't make Kim Il Jong jealous - you'll have to kiss his ring, too.
He is Jimmy Carter with a silver tongue. He can't hide forever. The only question in my mind is: if he wins how long will it take for the US to recover from four years of mindless liberalism?

Do you truly not know that being an "uppity nigger" was, in the not so distant past, treated as an offense so heinous that people were beaten, terrorized, and even killed for it? Homes would be burned, family members beaten and tortured, and people would sometimes be lynched for the crime of being "uppity". I am not making this up, and this has nothing to to with some frivolous attempt at being "PC"; this has to do with having some knowledge of history and the power of language.
| Ah yes, the power of interpretation and revisionism:
Dictionary.com:
adjective Informal. 1. affecting an attitude of inflated self-esteem; haughty; snobbish.
2. rebelliously self-assertive; not inclined to be tractable or deferential.
Origin: 1875–80, Americanism; prob. up + -ity, extended form of persnickety]
up·pi·ty·ness, noun
© 2008 Encyclopedia Britannica, Inc.
American Heritage Dictionary - adj. Informal
Taking liberties or assuming airs beyond one's station; presumptuousness: "was getting a little uppity and needed to be slapped down" (New York Times).
up'pi·ty·ness n.
1880, from up; originally used by blacks of other blacks felt to be too self-assertive (first recorded use is in "Uncle Remus"). The parallel British variant uppish (1678) originally meant "lavish;" the sense of "conceited, arrogant" being first recorded 1734.

Yep. Sounds extremely racist to me. Makes me want to twirl up a 13-loop noose and throw it over an oak branch if I can get this damn sweaty hood off. What say you, oh educated yet ignorant nubile thought-SWAT officer Angela? |

Post #78 is apparently the beef. If it was offensive should it not have been nipped in the bud accordingly?
I love pandora-box backfires. Dont you Angela? |
