I think the difference is that Wright has been speaking for 20 years and most of what he said is logical, inspirational and lucid. However, the MSM grabs and obsesses about a 20 second sound byte and runs it over and over again, to the point where it does damage to Obama.
Then you have Hagee that says the crazy stuff over a 20 year career and then Mr. Hagee endorses John McCain on Feb. 27, and it gets little traction.
McCain defenders say that McCain didn't go to his church nor learn of Hagee's statements beforehand. That's difficult to believe. A YouTube video of Hagee was posted on Jan. 1, nearly two months before the Hagee-McCain press conference. "Mr. Hagee appears on multiple religious networks, including twice daily on the largest, Trinity Broadcasting, which reaches 75 million homes. Any 12-year-old with a laptop could have vetted this preacher in 30 seconds, tops." (Frank Rich)
That NPR Freshair interview was in Sept. 2006. Hagee said, God created Hurricane Katrina to punish New Orleans for its sins, particularly a scheduled “homosexual parade there on the Monday that Katrina came.”
But I agree with osprey4 (don't have a heart attack). We aren't electing people's pastors, wives, etc.

One that stuck with me was telling his congregation that he fully expected them ALL to be "raptured" right up out of the church before the sermon was over. Kinda' like the Hale-Bopp dudes catching the comet, IMO.

I didn't start this thread for political reasons, either. I was honestly shocked while listening to this guy on the radio. And even more shocked that people actually follow this charlatan. |

well like I said most of what has been written was lies,
first he did not call the Catholic church a whore, he said the church was a harlot,
which means all the churches, and that is written in the bible,
so they are taking it out of context,
i'll get back to you on the rest |

Discussing McCain accepting the rev Hagees endorsement. Quote: |
More recently, his campaign hit a rough patch when he accepted the endorsement of the Reverend John Hagee, a Texas televangelist who has called the Catholic Church "the great whore" and a "false cult system." After the Catholic League protested and called on McCain to renounce Hagee's support, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee praised Hagee's spiritual leadership and support of Israel and said that "when [Hagee] endorses me, it does not mean that I embrace everything that he stands for or believes in." After being further criticized for his Hagee connection, McCain backed off slightly, saying, "I repudiate any comments that are made, including Pastor Hagee's, if they are anti-Catholic or offensive to Catholics." But McCain did not renounce Hagee's endorsement.

I may have an advantage on you about the Trinity church and "rev" Wright. I knew about them years before his glory started in the media.

i'll get back to you on the rest | Its in revelations, it refers to a church that actively works with a government. The Church is suppose to answer to God but this one acts out of greed and power, thus calling that church the "Whore of Babylon". |
