| Librarian carrying McCain=Bush sign kicked out of McCain Event Progress Now Action | Alan Franklin: Librarian carrying McCain=Bush sign kicked out of McCain Event
DENVER, Colo.-On orders from Senator John McCain's security detail, Denver police escorted a 61-year-old woman away who was waiting in line to attend a so-called town hall meeting with McCain that was billed as open to the public.
Carol Kreck, who works as a librarian in Denver, held a homemade sign reading "McCain = Bush." On orders from McCain's security detail, police cited her for trespassing and escorted her to the sidewalk. She was told if she returned she would be arrested.
"And all I did was carry a sign that said McCain = Bush," Kreck said. "And for everyone who voted for Bush, I don't see why it's offensive to say McCain = Bush."
This episode by McCain's Secret Service appears to be a rerun of McCain's 2005 town hall in Denver with President Bush in which the Secret Service had three Denver citizens removed from an "open" event where McCain was campaigning with Pres. Bush for his plan to privatize social security.
Now McBush is picking on out harmless Seniors. He invited the public , on public property and had his goons remove an American citizen for being truthful. Big Brother is watching you and after tomorrow the 4th Amendment will no longer be part of our Constitution.

Oh fercryinoutloud, if a McCain supporter walked into the Denver DNC with an 'Obama=Marx08' sign there should be a different response? Maybe a hearty hug, handshake and invite inside? Name me one politician who has publically engaged with and entertained protesters on either side successfully. |

| As a point of Information:
Where any persons alowed into the meeting carrying pro-McCain signs?
Was this "public meeting" in some Rented place where exclusive use by McCain et al could be assumed where someone could reasonably suppose that there was no absolute priviledge of carrying in opposition signs?
Regardless, unless the sign was unusually large or gaudy and reasonably interpreted as pre-emptive of audience and press attention, the saying Bush-McCain is quite familier and commonplace, and calling such attention to it by expelling it's carrier would seem counterproductive and foolish by his staff.
Sometimes Politicos genuinely regret some doofus act by their staff. Othertimes, I suspect, they simply give lip-service to "crocadile tear" regrets.

One should be careful in reviewing such evnts to look at the total picture and not some fact not described in sufficiently adequate context. I'm sure we'll be hearing more of these by both sides as the Election rolls on. |
