Anyways, here's my issue with the "issue." Why does it have to be this specific hospital on this specific trip that he absolutely must visit? If you can't answer that, then you really don't have a logical complaint. | Not too sure, but isn't that base in Germany the "big" one where most wounded soldiers are sent? |

It is an obligation to show respect for the soldiers wounded due to the Commander in Chief's orders - which is part of all wars and military engagements.
He skipped it to appease the far left who think US soldiers are "baby killers". Plain and simple.
That will definitely cost him, and the press isn't able to hush it up. He should be 20 points ahead of Mc Cain and it is still neck and neck. People are wise enough to see what he is made of. Maybe the pundits were right - give Obama enough rope and let him hang himself with it!
For those of you who don't see the problem, stop looking. You won't see it. Someday, maybe.
I would imagine when a police officer is buried, the Gomers and the Pexters of the world are yelling out of their windows, "Enough with the bagpipes, you jackasses! I'm trying to sleep!"

| Cue The Twilight Zone music! Chuck, you are so two-faced, it's embarrassing. As tony_j15 pointed out (and most everyone else here also knows), had Obama made the visit you would have been either the first (or maybe the second, behind McCain's hacks) to unload on him like a ton of bricks for using the soldiers for political purposes. Come to think of it, that is exactly what you are doing here. You should be ashamed. You're no better than a damn' Commie pinko and should renounce your citizenship immediately!

"We learned from the Pentagon last night that the visit would be viewed instead as a campaign event," the adviser, retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Scott Gration, said in a statement. "Senator Obama did not want to have a trip to see our wounded warriors perveived as a campaign event when his visit was to show his appreciation for our troops and decided instead not to go." AP | As some have already said, if Obama did visit these soldiers, there is no doubt Chuckie would jump on him for using wounded soldiers as a backdrop for his campaign.

It doesn't matter what some people *might* have said about his visit. He is a candidate for the highest rank in the country, of course he is going to take a verbal beating no matter what he chooses. However, if he had a set of balls he would have gone through with it, regardless of what some may have said about it simply because it is the right thing to do. I'd much rather "never hear the end" of it for visiting troops versus never hearing the end of it for not visiting the troops, let alone the sick and wounded.
I don't see how some of you just wave this on by and believe that BS excuse. He can tour Europe like he is the head of the US at this very moment, but he can't even visit wounded troops while over there? Guess it simply isn't as exciting...

| I betcha dollars to donuts that Dubya spends orders of magnitude more time chilling out at the ranch than he does visiting the soldiers injured due to the Incompetent in Chief's orders. Where are your crocodile tears for that? |

Where are your crocodile tears for that? | You see, that's the problem...Everyone is still saying "Bush this and Bush that" but the fact of the matter is, he was a horrible president. He is not going to be around much longer and we all need to stop basing everything around what he would have done or what he has done. He is not the future.
It seems like everyone wants Bush out so bad they are ready to vote just about anybody in to take over and they somehow believe all the promises are going to be made by whoever they vote for. The truth is as well that both candidates are jokes in comparison to what this country truly needs. However, jokes or not one of the two is going to lead this country and it's about damn time we start criticizing their every move versus a president that is on his way out. |

According to MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell, Obama was looking forward to the visit and all the plans were made until the Pentagon interceded. Mitchell said "the scuttlebutt" was that McCain may have used his Pentagon connections to sabatage Obama's soldier visit.

| And there are idiots here that supported and defended him for every minute of those eight years. Now look at what those idiots are doing.
I wasn't being so much critical of Dubya as I was Chuckya. |
