Why the hell is he in Germany anyhow? Germans don't vote in the general election.
McCain can at least be understood, going to Mexico to drum up the Illegal vote from the 20 percent of that country's population which has taken up residence here in the USA.
Maybe, Obama figgers since he left the gaffing wife at home now he can go to a photo op then ask Way de wite wimmen at?
Answering the question as to why he blew off the troops. The guy is a Leftist and by definition the Left hates America.
If there is any embodiment of America, it is in the Soldiers and Marines who wear the uniform.
Don't expect a whole lotta love for America or her troops to be emanating from B. Hussian Obama. It ain't gonna happen.

Obama was in Germany, France, Jordan, Iraq, Israel, etc., because McCain criticized him for not going abroad. Wouldn't you know it? As soon as he does, you get people criticizing him for going abroad.
Besides, Europe is made up countries that were once tight allies. Eight years of Bush leaves that relationship is strained. Obama is working to re-strengthen that relationship which will be a plus for our country if he wins.
Where were you when McCain went to Canada?

Obama was only allowed to take his secret service detail and his Senate staff and visit the troops in the hospital as a US Senator.
The problem is he wanted to bring his political organization.
He had nothing to gain politically without the press crew, so he declined. Jonathan Martin's Blog: DOD spokesman says Obama camp was reminded of political rules - Politico.com Quote:
Morrell, in a subsequent interview, added that military officials told Obama he could only visit the military facility with his Secret Service detail and Senate staff.
"We made it clear to him that campaign staff and press would not be permitted to accompany him," Morrell said of Obama. "We relayed those ground rules. They made a choice based upon the information we relayed to them. It was their choice. We had nothing to do with it."

Pexster,
Leftist knee-jerk insult much?
Have you ever had an original thought that wasn't first approved by the Politburo?
If you think Communism is so great, why not move to your Worker's paradise of Cuba or North Korea rather than stewing indignantly that the US has a Constitution? |

Nor does this have anything to do with Communism. It's just disappointing that you're a racist pig. It's throwbacks like you that hold our society back. Your comment is revolting. I suspect you are, as well. |

Pexster, not only are you a revolting, StinkyHippy, you are a malodorous Commie pig that hates America and the American way of life, you are also a mindless follower of a morally-depraved ideology that has caused the slaughter of millions in this last century and you are too much a fool or, at core, too evil, to take heed of it.
Proud of yourself, little man?
Poop on you.

I think that when election time comes, many of the military and many of the Veterans, that may have voted for Obama will either vote for McCain or a candidate from another party. (Granted, Obama wasn't high on their list prior to this incident . . . but this slight will not be forgotten by many.)
It's sad that Obama couldn't have told his campaign staff to take the afternoon off while he stopped in to visit the wounded . . . but maybe that wasn't a real priorty on the agenda of his campaign staff. Personally, I doubt Obama has the cajones to make a decision like that on his own or to over-ride his campaign staff's decision on visiting the wounded. He obviously doesn't have the knowledge or experience that is required of international affairs and this slight will remove what little respect he has earned from the military family.
Bottom line is, I don't think it was Obama's decision to make . . . but he was the one who accepted and followed the decision made for him by a member of his campaign staff. I would hope that he fires who ever gave him the bad advice and tries to repair the possible future damage before election time.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

Sharder,
Absolutely. Then again, if this guy proposes that he has the right stuff to become the Commander in Chief of the US military, up to and including having launch authority of our Nucler Detergent.. er... nuclear deterrent, you would think he would have enough cohones to override political handlers and do the right thing -- visit and in the process, thank and honor those wounded fighters who are on the cutting edge of the sword.
His decision speaks volumes as to where his priorities lie.
Although I doubt he is as morally depraved as Pexter. |

| To say nothing of the fact that he has probably never seen sights such as he would see in a veterans hospital. This isn't the flu ward.
They guy is a 100% opportunist. But, we'll see how long it lasts.
