Do you think it really happened??

OMG, YES THEY DID!

NO, NO THEY DIDNT!

Well way back in 1969 I stayed up to watch a fascinating mission. A mission of such great importance that it would change our world and the way we thought about things forever. Well there are people who say it never happened, that it was faked.

In case you havent figured it out yet(or clicked one of the links) Im talking about the Apollo Moon landing.

It seems the indomitable Mythbusters are on the case, only their decision may irk some people.

So, do you think man actually landed on the moon in 1969, or do you believe it was a great big swindle/Cold War grandstanding??

What, the 911 conspiracy thread wasn't enough?

Now you've given the crack pots another thread to spew their conspiracy theories into. . .

Fantastic.

My grandmother believed it was a hoax. No one could convince her otherwise.

I think the moon is a conspiracy. It's actually just a spot made by a really, really bright spotlight.

If it really was fake, then the Soviet Union would have been all over that.

From Alan Shepard's 15 minute flight that made him the first American in space to the Apollo moon landing, many missions were flown to try out new technology, gain experience and learn exactly how to get to the moon. The Mercury missions extended the amount of time and earth orbits the astronauts were spending in space. The Gemini missions developed the astronauts ability to manuever and dock space craft and the Apollo missions took the astronauts, first into moon orbit and finally to its surface. Everything was done in relatively small steps. At what point did NASA and the US government decide that rather than land on the moon to just say screw it and set up a soundstage? it would be far easier to con the population of the world with the biggest, most complicated, costly and risky hoax the world has ever known? Too many people would have been in on the scam not to have it discovered.
And Russia verified by triangulation that communications indeed were sent and received from the lunar surface.
