| Storm Troopers Suppress The People Police raided a rental hall used by a group organizing protests at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Friday.
Call it what you like but it seems that the GOP is using whatever tools they can abuse in order to suppress dissent and protests at their up and coming convention. The raid was executed under search warrant with up to 30 police officers entering with their guns drawn. The nature of the search warrant was suppressed and up to 50 people where detained and photographed. In the end someone, not clear who, was served with a simple fire code violation.
This stinks of a violation of civil rights, a secret search warrant and photographing of all the people in the rented hall, sounds like an abuse of the Patriot Act to me. Is the FBI back up to its old tricks of the 60’s and 70’s under the direction of their GOP masters? Is this what we can expect under continued GOP rule? Are the republicans in power using any tool they can twist in order to give the appearance of a smooth convention like the DNC was? What are they afraid of? I guess we will all be the judge in the next few days.
I smell fear – the GOP stinks of it and they are going to throw anything under the bus in order to keep the presidency in their clutches.

St. Paul Police spokesman Tom Walsh said they were executing a search warrant.
"The cause for the search warrant is not public at this time," Walsh said.

Yea, look what happened at the DNC. People were held without charge, protesters were limited to a small area far away from the convention. Of those arrested, they are being coerced into pleading guilty of their "crimes". A reporter for ABC was pushed into traffic and then choked while being arrested.

I'm curious, why wasn't aldtech concerned with the gestapo type tactics of the police during the DNC? They even had the FBI and Secret Service involved. What was the DNC afraid of? |

Evidence, AR? Links?
I know that on the last day, some guy with a power megaphone was shouting "9/11 was an inside job!" over and over again for hours while standing right behind the MSNBC desk. The hosts and guests could barely hear each other.
Al Sharpton commented, "I don't begrudge them. I am a protestor, too." I thought that was a generous statement.

Here's two for you Pex: Denver Daily - ABC News staffer jailed amid DNC Quote:
Also Wednesday, the American Civil Liberties claimed that scores of protesters arrested after a clash with police on Monday night were not allowed to have private conversations with attorneys, were given incorrect information about the charges they faced, and were held for up to 8 hours before they were taken to court.
In a letter to city officials, the ACLU said some protesters weren’t allowed to make phone calls, were left handcuffed inside cells and were left barefoot or shirtless in cells that were “incredibly cold.”
| ABC News: ABC Reporter Arrested in Denver Taking Pictures of Senators, Big Donors Quote:
A cigar-smoking Denver police sergeant, accompanied by a team of five other officers, first put his hands on Eslocker's neck, then twisted the producer's arm behind him to put on handcuffs.
During the arrest, one of the officers can be heard saying to Eslocker, "You're lucky I didn't knock the f..k out of you."

Thanks for the info. I find it hilarious that you are posting something the ACLU is complaining about without attacking them for being Commie stooges, lol.
Also from your linked article -- Quote: |
Denver Police Chief Gerald Whitman reminded officers in writing Tuesday that Colorado law gives journalists some privileges when they’re covering disturbances.

Authorities said Eslocker repeatedly had been told to stop blocking a sidewalk and an entrance to Denver’s Brown Palace Hotel. He wasn’t arrested until three hours after the first warning, police said.

The only reason he was arrested was because the hotel filed a complaint. Did you happen to see how big the public sidewalk was that he was accused of blocking? But then, you probably didn't even watch the video. |
