| I don't know about Sen. Joe Liebermen....
There's a lot of stuff I don't know about. For example , Why Sarah Palin's daughter being pregnant is even "news"..not just "news" but much of the news in the media about her.
But let's move on to Joe.
His being "bi-Partisan" is OK by me..
If that's what it is.
But, maybe I'm a little sensituve about this, but there is a field of Psychology known as Social Cognition, and its the interaction of Social psychology with Cognitive psychology. One of the things it studies is, "how to change people's attitudes?" or "how they do change?" This is also an issue in clinical psych, because its goal is often to change either attitude or behaviour.
So what does this have to do with Joe?
Well listening to his speech at the RNC tonite, I expected him to boost John McCain. So far, alright.
And I wasn't surprised at his asking Democrats to vote for a Republican. That's Bi-Partisan, right? Of course this is a man who ran for Vice President on the Democrat line and was proud to accept that nomination. Still Party loyalty should take the back seat in a Presidential Election.
So why am I writing this?
I just couldn't help getting that sneaky feeling that he was setting up his listeners, that Mr. Bi-Partisan was on message.
Here's how: we first heardthe predited McCain boosting..then we got to the "bi-Partsan appeal to Democrats...then we got to..
..to Social Cognition and using attitude to change behaviour.
To a subtle Code word or phrase that "believe me [fellow Democrats] this is no ordinary Election".
No ordinary Election??
Why?
Because the adversary is perceived and appears to be Black?
Because with the last eight years and the incumbants approval rating, this is an uphill climb for the Republicans --unless the Democrats shoot themselves in the foot.. which often seems like a Democrat tradition.
So how to beat them?
Get White Democrats to think twice about voting for a Black?
Send subliminal messages to get them to do that?
Give them reasons --like a female Vice President candidate -- to cross Party lines, split their ballot, vote for a Republican for President and Democrats for all other Offices this year ??
Or send out real subtle racial code words, like "this is no ordinary Election." ?
People don't feel comfortable when their attitudes conflict with their behaviour: this is called Cognitive Dissonance and works best when people are not even aware of it.
Nobody really knows what will happen when White Democrats step into a voting Booth and face the levers, where one lever is for an Afro-American candidate....hasn't happened before.
So code words will be used to bring that up and influence peoples choices --without feeling the discomfort of Cognitive Dissonance: the discrepency between their attitude pro Obama and their behaviour voting McCain.
... So they can still go on believing themselves white Liberal Democrats and vote for the candidate who just happens to be White.
"No Ordinary Election" may be just a glimmer of the code we will be seeing in the months ahead. Dear, Joe.remember the olde saying,
"Say it ain't so, Joe?"

after the RNC,
I keep hearing references to Joe Libermen's comment,
"this is no ordinary Election...etc"
Plus, the importance of "being an American".
Seems we won't be hearing so much slamming of the Democrat Party as calls for Bi-Partisanship in "no ordinary an Election".
Did we hear a new mantra born. |

| Because she preaches abstinence for birth control that's why. |

And because the media is trying to undercut her before she can gain traction with other women in the USA.
There is nothing worse to a liberal than the idea that women just might not be "easy". Preaching abstinence is "no fun" for a tribe of Democrats who where raised on "sex, drugs, and rock and roll" in the '60's.
Her daughter got herself pregnant. Does that mean her mother should change parties?
Bottom line, the people are clamoring for "change" - code for trying to get something done in Washington - and now a reformer takes the stage from "the other party", and the liberal "independent" robots don't know what to do when faced with a woman not of their choosing!

| Right, and his appearance at the 2008 RNC was a quick f/u very much to the people that voted for him in 2000. What an ass. |

If he wanted to maintain any respect within the Democratic party, he could have spoken out for McCain and stated why. He did not need to trash Obama in such a mean-spirited and personal way. It's funny, I'm generally a pretty non-violent person and I like people. But every time I see this guy on TV and hear his smarmy, whiny little voice, I just want to slap him silly.
(Does that make me a bad person?)

| By the way, the TIMO Official Orthographist should have spotted ( ) that Lieberman is speled with an 'A'. Hmm..could that stand for...... ( ) Quote: |

This is about "Country Joe" smelling a little Fishie.
I'll bet this will backfire and maybe they've already polled that
and maybe they'll bury
good old
"Country Joe and the Fishey"
And then give him a Cabinet Seat.
If they win.
