A little story from some time ago where I worked:
We did a variety of new contruction work, shower doors and mirrors being one of them.
We had a beef with the installers, and they demanded an additional $ 5.00 an hour. Since we had contracts, we gave in. In the next phase we raised prices to cover the labor and we lost the contracts to our competitors.
We let them all go and built up a new crew in a couple of months.
I think this is a microcosm of what will happen in the real world. In manufacturing, there are plans in place in places I know of to replace the workforce with temps. You work for the temp or nothing. The temp agencies are working out the details as to how to keep the same people in the same jobs and still remain independant. The'll figure it out.
