... were so delicate? Quote:
Rick Davis, campaign manager for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., just told Fox News Channel's Chris Wallace that McCain running mate Gov. Sarah Palin won't subject herself to any tough questions from reporters "until the point in time when she'll be treated with respect and deference."
Davis assailed the way the media had discussed Palin and her family in the last week and said the campaign would wait until a less hostile media environment.
So when will she subject herself to questions?
"When we think it's time and when she feels comfortable doing it," Davis said, praising a Fox News Channel profile of Palin that ran last night.
Why is she scared of answering questions? Wallace asked.
"She's not scared to answer questions," Davis said, "but you know what? We run our campaign not the news media."
Wallace said inappropriate intrusions into Palin's family and personal life aside, there are legitimate questions about whether she is prepared to be vice president.
"Sarah Palin will have the opportinity to speak to the American people," Davis said. "She will do interviews, but she'll do them on the terms and conditions" the campaign decides.
In fairness, an Alaska TV reporter did get to ask Palin a question Thursday, something along the lines of "Governor, we feel like we're losing you - are you still going to be there for Alaska?"

Lipstick acts as a tnderizer????
Hey Theo, before you go to kiss a Bulldog to verify your statement, put some lipstick on the dog . . .
If that doesn't help, the second time you can put the lipstick on yourself before kissing the Bulldog . . .
And if that doesn't help . . . put lipstick on the dog and yourself before kissing the Bulldog.
After all, they say the third time is the charm.
Seriously, I can understand both points of view . . . but like you, I'd like to see how she handles herself in a hostile environment.

She's a politician. She should be able to handle questions. Yes, reporters will cross the line, but that's when the real "men" (or women, as the case may be) should stand up and politely remind the reporters that the line has been crossed. A simple "STFU, please" can go a long way.
IOW, she should quit hiding behind McCain's skirt...or her own figurative one (pantsuits FTW)

Having been preceded by all sorts of campaign drama about her first interview and the excitement that she's not up to the task, her TV appearance will be widely touted, score big ratings, and will be nice entertainment for the network that presents it. It will achieve many things. Undermining propaganda isn't one of them.

Seems like she needs more prep time. You gotta think her and the campaign managers are going over every question that they think may be asked to make sure she doesn't answer them the wrong way.

They will no doubt insist on receiving the interview questions ahead of time, so she can be prepped and the answers scripted. The American people deserve to hear what Palin has to say on the issues in an open, unscripted forum.

Serious journalists should pursue her and ask questions. The campaign has no right to trot out an unvetted candidate for VP and then expect her to be able to avoid the press.

As much as I'd like to think the debates will be "unscripted," I have a feeling there will be many a rehearsal before hand. Quote:
