The bottom line is that campaigns, whether run by Dems or Reps, routinely research the opposition. There is nothing wrong with that. However, Factcheck.org has this to say about the McCain ad about it: Quote: |
The McCain-Palin ad also twists a quote from a Wall Street Journal columnist. He said the Obama camp had sent a team to Alaska to "dig into her record and background." The ad quotes the WSJ as saying the team was sent to "dig dirt."

So are they trying to say that the Obama camp was really up there digging up good things to say about Palin up until the "dig dirt" comment?

Nope, what MTA was saying-> "Know Thy Enemy" would make the MacCain camp look better. |

I suggest you read the transcript of her RNC speech Steve. TONS of news people and their related stories about what she said in her speech are wrong. | OK, I know I'm a couple days late with my comment but...
Isn't anyone troubled with the fact that what she said in her speech led many to believe that she sold the plane on ebay?
I understood her to say that she was responsible for selling the plane. After seeing and listening to her, I thought she was saying, that she sold the plane on Ebay. Of course I know now that she did not sell the plane, and that the person that sold it for the state took over a half a million dollar loss on the sale. That makes me wonder what was the hurry to get rid of the plane? Anyone know? Or is jet parking very expensive in AK?
But seriously,is it really OK for a political leader to play word games like that when talking to America? |

Well Surreal, considering all the scrutiny these guys are under, you’d think they’d be more careful.
She did say she “put” in on eBay while basically going for brownie points that it was sold and gone and saving her state some money.
MacCain on the other hand used the work Sold and Profit – both of which aren’t true.
So, the DEMS sending people up there to search for the truth is probably a good idea |

This sounds like a bad episode of the X-Files, or maybe we should call it the P-Files. Where's the plane? It was here, but now it's gone. It's a conspiracy...the truth is out there. |

"Dig into her record and background" to determine if there is anything legitimately questionable is different than the McCain dismissive spin "dig dirt." |
