Harder | I know and I love it!!! It's like everybody in the room are yelling and screaming I'm bad, I'm bad, I kick your budda mofo. Chest in the air, until somebody threw a grenade in the middle of the room and everybody slammed down to the floor covering their asses..

Harder | Like most Feds, I have money in the Thrift Fund (half in government bonds, half in a stock fund). The rest of my investments are in a mutual fund (my IRA) and in tax-free municipals. Frankly, I don't know whether any of those will survive, including the government bonds. I have some shares in an insurance company left to me by my father.
Marcia owns a few shares of Sun Oil she inherited from an uncle. Neither of us plays the market.
My pension is my best bet, because I'm under the old Civil Service Retirement System. But I plan to keep working for a while in these uncertain times.

Pelosi should have kept her mouth shut, and just let the bill be voted on.
Barny Frank, my ass. He is up to his neck in the destruction of Fanny and Freddie.
The Dem's had the votes to pass their original bill without the Republicans, but needed political cover of Republican votes. She had them. Then she decided to crap all over Bush, for good measure.
The Republicans were willing to vote for a flawed bill to get started on stopping the world wide meltdown. Pelosi was too vain to care. She just had to get her shot in at the people who's support she desperately needed. You can not get Republicans to vote after a barrage against the President like that. It become instantly hyper partisan. Does anyone still wonder what's wrong with Congress? It's Pelosi and Reid, and their inability to put the country over politics.
She knew exactly what she was doing.
I hope the mainstream media runs out of spin and tells the truth, for once.

I'm glad this didn't pass. F the government and F politicians....their not looking out for the public's interest. I say if the economy crashes atleast all these Wall St cons come down with us regular folks, we always get shafted by our government so now its time for them to feel the pain. Only people I'm sympathetic for are people that will lose their life savings.... sad that people work hard all their lives for this country and in the end get the bad end of the stick by a completely PATHETIC government. This is what happens when a government spends more time trying to implement a democracy in parts of the world that will historically fail instead of stabilizing our own **** country, let's take care of Iraqis and not our own people.
We made it out of the great depression with good leadership so if indeed we fall into a depression I'm sure it will be tough to endure but we can recover. Capitalism is the longest standing and most successful economic system.... with the right leadership & guidance we can overcome this crisis. This country is headed into the wrong direction anyway so why not just start over. We need to stop being exploited by politicians that couldn't give two shit's about our well being and bring the power back to the people that's the whole point of a democracy
Failure sometimes enhances the greatest success. |

Wake up and smell the roses.
The bill was bad and anyone with brains that wasn't in banking, real estate, stock market, etc. knew it. Like I mentioned earlier . . . if the Republicans had any brains, they could use the reason of, "I listened to my constituents for a change and they didn't like the bill in its present form.
Trying to make excuses for not supporting a bad bi-partisan bill is pathetic! Especially by trying to blame the other party!

Fine. They have adjourned until Thursday.
It is incumbent on them to sit there like adults and work out a bill. You don't grandstand and call the other side, basically a bunch of thieves.
Especially when anyone with half a brain knows the Democrats run the committees that regulate Fanny and Freddie.
The fed has bailed out a good portion of the credit market by proxie by putting nearly a trillion in to keep the banking system liquid, but that word isn't getting out beyond "bank nerds". Quote: |

| What are you referring to? I'd like to know. I've been pretty busy. The first bill is dead and had the funds for Acorn, La Raza, and one other unsavory group.
EDIT: Bloomberg is about the only one staying on top of it: Bloomberg.com: Worldwide

Have they removed the "no review by any courts" phrase from the one that went to vote?
The Democrats have made me sick throughout this whole situation (I lean more conservative in nature, but don't like Republicans either). From placing all of the blame on corporations instead of taking some of the blame themselves, trying to claim that the "bill was finished" before McCain was there so they could claim he did nothing (and that Obama was correct in continuing his campaign) while obviously it was far from finished at that point, Pelosi with her comments, etc... The Dems certainly seem to be putting their party politics before the good of the country.... that makes me sick...
Now before you go pointing out things the Republicans have done in their past, just hold your breath. I know the Republicans suck as well, but I just wanted to point out some of the big issues with the Dems in this situation.

I don't see how either side can be defended as the majority of both are traitors. The few who are standing up are doing so from both sides, however sad their numbers may be.
