Obama's Tax Plan Uses "Refundable Tax Credit"

What do you take that to mean, and what does it have to do with you?

McCain is as well only offering 5 times more under the guise of "reform" while calling Obama's refundable tax credit "welfare".
Quote:
Straight Talk on Health System Reform

John McCain Will Reform The Tax Code To Offer More Choices Beyond Employer-Based Health Insurance Coverage. While still having the option of employer-based coverage, every family will receive a direct refundable tax credit - effectively cash - of $2,500 for individuals and $5,000 for families to offset the cost of insurance.

The "welfare" claim rests on the argument, made in an Oct. 13 editorial in the Wall Street Journal, about refundable tax credits. Obama proposes to grant a number of refundable tax credits to low- and middle-income workers. For example, he would give a $500 tax credit ($1,000 for a couple) for workers, which would phase out for single workers making $75,000 or for couples making $150,000 per year. As the Journal editorial says: "You can receive these checks even if you have no income-tax liability." That's true enough. Whether or not that makes them "welfare" is a matter of interpretation, however. As the Journal editorial also says in its headline, "It depends on what the meaning of 'tax cut' is."

Let not forget to notice that your link is provided by the Annanburg Foundation - the same ones who brought you ACORN. So their interpretation is suspect.

What is basically being created is another tax bracket - a negative one. If you are in the - 15 % bracket, you get a check, if you are in the + 25 %, you write a check. Where is this money coming from?

Given the low (reported) income of immigrants in California, legal and otherwise, they will be the net beneficiaries of this "credit" which is another way to distribute welfare without a welfare department.

Of course there are college students, and people who work for cash.

This way they can send All their money back to Mexico. Gotta love it. Reminds me of West Side Story " Everything FREE in America "

ACORN has never committed fraud and the former McCain was involved with ACORN back in 2006.

Chuck, you do know who founded the Annenberg Foundation, I trust? And what his politics were? And who his close friends were?

I'm shocked to read you write about the Annenberg Foundation in such a disparaging way.

Moses was a slimy dude but Walter seemed to get it together for the common good. Walter founded the Annenberg Foundation not Moses. You may want to define your last comment Pex.
