How is it guilt someone works extremely hard for the first 28 years of their life and finally makes a $150k /year pay check. While you may have cut classes and blown off work and in general laid back and worked maybe 1/3 of what they have put in. Why would they feel guilty? Perhaps some of those who need hands outs should feel a little guilty (that is if they goofed off and never really put in effort).
You know dog spelled backwards is god.....
coincidence ..... i think not.

Probably having the sense that paying a few more percent of what you have is better than not paying any taxes on what goes down the drain!

I think they were comfortable with the idea that Obama was not going to do any "income redistribution". They saw it for what it was - a campaign promise. His biggest asset was the failing economy. People feel it was time to go with the candidate that makes you "feel good". Who can blame them?
This is the "401" class.
Lots of people in business are in favor of a slow but sure dumping of medical benefits on the government. It's expensive to administer, and it's generally a pain in the ass, and it's very expensive - and not equal between companies.
This is the "business" class.
I'd like to see a break down of how many Obama supporters are in the warm, moist, womb of the public sector. These people never feel the threat of economic harm on the income side, only on the cost side. The private sector feels it in both.
This is the "public employee" class.
One thing I wish Obama would do is announce that "tax increases are off the table for at least a year". Businesses can't do advanced planning when huge tax increases are looming over their heads, and they won't expand if they can't get some idea what lies ahead. Investors are not buying equities with a doubling of capital gains looking them in the face. A crystal ball is only so good!
I hope for all of our sakes he is successful in getting the economy rolling, and such and announcement would be welcome.Last edited by Chuckiechan; November 12th, 2008 at 11:30 AM.
Obama doesn't need an "enemies list"... He sees half the country as his enemy.

Who said the rich voted for Obama? Most wealthy people are Republicans and voted for McCain. There is a type of wealthy voter that may be liberal but also educated and wealthy that care more about the country than the $3 per hundred taxes may rise. Those voters voted for Obama. However, I would assume that millionaires mostly voted for McCain.

November 12th, 2008, 12:32 PM #10Once again you're talking out your ass. They're already talking job cuts here at the university and I'm sure that talk will be repeated in all public sectors. Pay raises have not even kept up with inflation for several years now. Helath care benefits have been reduced, which can really hurt many of the lower wage earners. Public sector workers feel the pain, too. These people never feel the threat of economic harm on the income side, only on the cost side.
And let's not forget who was in charge of the biggest growth in government jobs in US history.Last edited by M_Six; November 12th, 2008 at 12:34 PM.

Me and Joe Six Pack are outraged at our new tax bracket.

What "new" tax bracket? Psst, electing Obama doesn't automatically change all of Obama's proposals into laws. Laws still need to be passed by the Congress and signed by the President. In other words, tax brackets haven't changed.

November 12th, 2008, 08:45 PM #18Have there actually been job cuts on "permant" employees? Here in California they are always "talking" about it as a way to pressure the legislators but never doing it.They're already talking job cuts here at the university and I'm sure that talk will be repeated in all public sectors. Pay raises have not even kept up with inflation for several years now. Helath care benefits have been reduced, which can really hurt many of the lower wage earners. Pay raises? Ask your private sector buddies how their pay raises are coming.

I don't know how you came to that conclusion but it does not conform to facts.
Obama's plan is to raise taxes on those filing single who earn $200K or more and those filing jointly earning $250K and more. Those earning less than those amounts are supposed to get tax cuts. Most Americans fall into the later category and would rightly be offended by you deciding that they were on welfare not working.Conservatives: "If the facts disagree with our opinion, ignore the facts -- or at least misrepresent them."
