Try explaining what fuck means to someone that has no idea, tell me that isn't a hard one to pull off. Several years ago we did some guided hunts for a few Korean guys that didn't speak much english. Well sitting around the fire telling jokes or stories you get a little carried away. So one of the guys that spoke pretty good English asked how he could explain to his friends what the word meant.
I don't know which was funnier the way he asked, just the fact that he asked or all of us trying to explain it. I'm not sure we ever really got the explanation out but it was pretty damn funny. Honestly I think he was just fucking with us...lol

It should only be used among a group of close friends (assuming they all agree that it's acceptable) and out of earshot of strangers. I consider use if it in earshot of strangers to be boorish, a sign of poor manners and upbringing as well as of a limited vocabulary.

"Where the fuck are my keys?" Conveys both that I have lost them and that I am frustrated! Or better yet, "Where are my fucking keys?"
It also conveys that you are a person you have to be careful where you invite to, since you have a limited vocabulary and lack self control to get so frustrated by losing your keys. No one can be sure when and where you might drop an "F bomb".

IMHO I think people find it offensive because that is how most people were raised. Being taught all your life that a word is inappropriate causes you to react when it is used.

I can swear like a sailor (or in my case, a soldier) when the need arises, but I don't like hearing someone use it four times in every sentence in normal conversation. It's unnecessary and reflects poorly on the person speaking if they can't form a sentence without it. But students these days use it constantly. It's odd to see some of our students, 20-something males or females, gathering in the hallway after their interviews with corporate recruiters and using the word like a comma.
"I was in this interview and like, the guy askes me a question and I'm like f**k, I don't know and he's sitting there f**king looking at me waiting for an answer and I'm f**king staring out the window and..."
You get the idea. These are future business men and women wearing spiffy suits and expecting a $70k/yr starting salary in some corporation. I can't help but wonder if they accept that kind of language in the corporate world these days. On a construction job site, sure. In a corporate office? I don't know.

No I mean the word F-Bomb, not fuck
As old as I am it has nothing to do with how I was raised.
