Let me clarify. There is a time and place for everything. Case in point, a public space crammed full of unknown people is rarely an appropriate time and place for cursing IMO.
I have been known to occasionally spout off a curse word, especially if overly frustrated with something. However, that is typically in a private setting among known people, often with like minded stances on such issues.
In stark contrast, if one goes on a cursing tirade in the company of strangers, then the possibility of being thought a fool probably increases exponentially.

still isnt it useless to ban a word completely from television? i find it most ridiculous everyone knows what word to put in and is hearing it in his head, so why ban it?
why is cursing bad? explain it to me, i can't find a reason

Want the short explanation? It can be a matter of culture. Your culture is different than mine.
It is a matter of social decorum for me, which again, is a cultural aspect. The traditional Southern culture in the United States tends to value courtesy in public speech and other public mannerisms. Note, I said traditional, which is an important consideration versus the perceived (and often ill founded) stereotypes of Southern culture. |

That's a very good point. California is a far cry from the South.

Having been on construction sites for the last 35 years, plus being a recovering biker of sorts, I know this word upside down, inside out. Over the past 10 years or so I have eliminated its use by probably 90%.
Why? I thinking my age has something to do with it. I hear "kids" at work using this word constantly. My foreman/partner uses it constantly. I am just geting tired of hearing it. I can convey my message loud and clear without its use. If I do use it now, people know something is up, and it aint good.
Thursday I got beaned on the shoulder by someones ratchet/socket combo. It fell around 20 feet. It scared the crap out of me,first, then hurt like hell next. I spewed this word along with a few others. I felt rather bad afterwards, because this is not my regular self, its old behavior from the "old crappy days" in my life, and I do my best not to act like that anymore.
I m sure I ve told the true story about the little 3 yr old blondie(daughter of some good friends) stating at the dinner table in front of her extremely rich well to do grand parents at Thanksgiving.. "Pass the f***ing peas, please" Have a wonderful day,eh? 'ol stick-in-da-mud Brad

I remember years ago, my sister-in-law was not at all happy when driving to hear my six year-old nephew yell "You fucking asshole!" at some other driver.
Apparently, this got my brother in some hot water.
This was one of those Mars/Venus things. I rolled on the floor laughing, but the womenfolk were not amused. |
