As they move north, our economy becomes more and more like Mexico's.

If it wasn't for Medicare I'd be DEAD. How's that, Mr. Evereddie.
Dialysis for eight years and a New Kidney. Now, how in the hell, was going to pay( about $200,000 w/ my health Ins., just for the kidney.( Who knows how much dialysis was ) for ALL that without Medicare and ALL the good citizens who contribute to it ?????? I worked for over 35 years, contributing to SS and Medicare, and am alive ,today, because of it.
Don't knock, you might NEED it someday.
Would have sent you a PM...but you're incommunicado.
Hate when that happens.

Pickel, I am very glad it helped you but you didn't anwer my question. Whether you feel it right now or care to know, Medicare like all other government programs is in big rouble. Here it is directly.... How Obama And McCain Differ On Medicare, CBS Evening News: How The Candidates Propose To Fix The Ailing Program - CBS News
"Both Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain concede Medicare is in trouble.
"By 2019, there will be no money left!" McCain has said.
He blames bloated bureaucracy. Arguing doctors and clinics should get lump-sum payments for quality care, instead of being paid for individual tests and treatments.
"What about the idea of saying, 'OK,' to a healthcare provider. 'A heart transplant is going to be based on the overall outcome and care that you provide for that patient,'" he said.
Obama sees waste in the private plans that contract with Medicare to manage the treatment of a quarter of its recipients - about 10 million seniors. Studies show those plans cost the government roughly 13 percent more than traditional medicine. "It doesn't help seniors get any better. It's not improving our health care system. It's just a give-away," Obama said. |

Much appreciated
However, on the flip side, It keeps a lot of folks from getting in any worse condition than they are now. If Bush can piss away BILLIONS of mine and your money to, for instance Halliburton &
Blackwater USA, I wouldn't care how much waste or how much of a "give away" Medicare might be.. People ARE being HELPED. I'm the proof of the pudding. My wife still has a husband. My daughter still has a father and my grand daughter still has her "Popa" How many wives and daughters and grand children will looking at a picture or a Silver Star or teared stained letter this Thanksgiving ?????
Try to look at the humanistic side and be a little more empathetic .
BTW, I voted for Ralph. I will NEVER trust or believe ANYTHING any politician says, especially Obombma, much less "Turn his back on the Vets" McCain |

There's nothing socialized about it, basically the government set up an insurance company that everyone pays into
| and...that's not socialism? Unless someone changed the definition, you just defined socialism. Quote: |
Private health insurance is still available if you want it.
| but, you are still required to pay into the national plan. So what end's up happening is you end up paying twice for actual treatment, similar to how school systems work: you pay taxes for local schools, then you send your kids to private school because you actually care that they receive a great education.

Empathy is for the weak...
On a more serious note; There is nothing wrong with paying Blackwater, there is however something wrong with Socializing Healthcare, we have some of the best doctors in the world and that would be thrown away by socializing healhcare.
On a less serious note; This Genocide cannot be left to continue!!! (completely unrelated to this thread) |

Nobody pays into it voluntarily. The government takes your money for that insurance program whether you like it or not.

The fundamentals at work are nationalizing health care, which will be hugely expensive, combined with eliminating the tax benefits of 401's to complete the socialist transformation.
This gives the government entire control of your health and retirement - a huge bundle of money to allocate to friendly industries.
I can definitely see huge unemployment coming out of this due to underfunding of investment necessary to create jobs and businesses to pay these taxes. |
