Should the Gov't "bail out" the BCS?
I've complained as much as anyone about the BCS, but I can't think of anything that would screw it up worse than the US House of Representatives trying to fix it.
Oh, now I see. He's from Texas.Rep. Joe Barton of Texas, the ranking Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, didn't specify what sort of playoff he wants -- only that the BCS should go.
[T]he bill..."will prohibit the marketing, promotion, and advertising of a postseason game as a 'national championship' football game, unless it is the result of a playoff system. Violations of the prohibition will be treated as violations of the Federal Trade Commission Act as an unfair or deceptive act or practice."

Texas certainly isn't the first college to get screwed out of a chance at the national champion title, going back way before the BCS even existed. As unfair as it may be, it's the way it's always been. I agree about needing playoffs and scapping the BCS, but legislation?
Like there's not more important things for our politicians to be worried about.
Maybe he should introduce legislation to keep Texas Tech off their schedule!
