That's not far from the truth, Sarah... there was a time that was literally pushed. Thank God i didn't live through THAT era!
Usually, terrible things that are done with the excuse that progress requires them are not really progress, but just terrible things.

I'm not "obsessing about how another country runs itself 90% of the time". I state fact in place of incorrect assumptions made by members here in this forum. Does it matter who brings the facts to light? You read a book and take your cue from it and it was written in the middle-east. Still got any complaints?
I go after the absurd notions of religion which have a tendency of cross border influence. Religion is not bound by borders. There are many religious organisations up here that can't support their social issue agendas so they draw money from the state side affiliates.
The rest of your comment wasn't worth my time. When those who believe in any of the available gods understand why they deny all other gods, they should come to understand why atheists lack a belief in theirs.

Afghanistan has military from many countries there.
Is there still an Al Qaeda presence in the country, or is it only the Taliban and criminals that NATO is fighting against.

It is my understanding that the Taliban and Al Qaeda are still working collaboratively in the region.
