This will explain pretty much every health care system you encounter in the western world: http://www.cato.org/pubs/pas/pa-613.pdf
it's 48 pages with pretty usefull information on mostly european health care systems like france, germany, UK and switzerland, and an insight to the canadian system comparing most of them to the system which is in place in the USA right now
it's a VERY good read and explains all good and bad things of every health care system. i read pretty much everything by now, although i have to reread it again because it's just so much information
