How AlGore Celebrated Earth Hour

How Al Gore Celebrated Earth Hour

Quote:
I pulled up to Al’s house, located in the posh Belle Meade section of Nashville, at 8:48pm – right in the middle of Earth Hour. I found that the main spotlights that usually illuminate his 9,000 square foot mansion were dark, but several of the lights inside the house were on.

In fact, most of the windows were lit by the familiar blue-ish hue indicating that floor lamps and ceiling fixtures were off, but TV screens and computer monitors were hard at work. (In other words, his house looked the way most houses look about 1:45am when their inhabitants are distractedly watching “Cheaters” or “Chelsea Lately” reruns.)

The kicker, though, were the dozen or so floodlights grandly highlighting several trees and illuminating the driveway entrance of Gore’s mansion.

I [kid] you not, my friends, the savior of the environment couldn’t be bothered to turn off the gaudy lights that show off his goofy trees.

For those unfamiliar with Earth Hour: Earth Hour, Earth Hour - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

One of what people Bingo?

I know you realize we need to be more energy efficient here in the US, more sustainable, and less polluting... right?

I'd rather see you working and thinking of proactive means of achieving these things than wasting time ridiculing something that is not a means of achieving that end.

Don't be one of those people. I think you are smarter than that too.

For sure.

I don't like the hypocrisy. If Al Gore was some obscure figure, I wouldn't care...but people seem to take what this guy says about the environment as gospel, and that's not right.

Better wasting time than wasting energy.

Maybe he needed the outdoor lights on to keep crazy people like that guy from trespassing on his private residence at 1:45am.

What event, that a politician was hypocritical?

I'm sure you think Earth Hour was a ridiculous event yourself. Even if Al had turned out every light... he'd be catching flack from the same people for turning them back on.

He says that we need to be more energy efficient here in the US, more sustainable, and less polluting. I really don't know the specifics of what Al Gore is doing energy wise.. Both of us, you and I, realize that we don't need to know that in order to recognize that those 3 things need to change.
