NY Governor Introduces Same-Sex Marriage Bill"Anyone that has ever experienced degradation or intolerance would understand the solemn duty and how important it actually is," Paterson, the state's first black governor, told a news conference in Manhattan.
"This is a civil rights issue. Civil rights don't wait for the right time," he said. Paterson was accompanied by city and state leaders, including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Gay marriage has broad support in the Democratic-controlled New York lower house, the Assembly, where it passed in a 85 to 61 vote in 2007. It was not put to a vote in the state Senate.
The bill is again expected to be passed in the Assembly. In the Senate Democrats hold a majority for the first time in more than 40 years, but it is slim -- 32 to 30 -- and at least one Democrat has said he opposes the measure.I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it. --J.S. Mill

Even Limbaugh said Republicans will have to accept inevitability of national gay marriage and abortion. It's the wave of the future along with big government if the party wishes to exist. So please call them hypocrites all you want. Americans are soft and want their creature comforts again. The Apologist will make it happen if it drives us into the ground.
Miss California lost 1st place due to Perez Hilton's loaded gay marriage question. She loves men and didn't back down. A rare woman indeed, especially from kooky-fornia.

Yup, just like the SF Mayor Gavin Newsom proudly proclaimed, "the door's wide open, it's going to happen, whether you like it or not".Unofficial TechIMO record holder for the number of times being added and removed from beemer's ignore list.
