| The White House - Blog Post - A Vision for High Speed Rail
Being that other countries have this (its easier since they are smaller) but I think this would be very cool! I do a lot of driving up to DC to see family and friends every other weekend and would love to be able to take this instead of driving myself. I support this 100% espically in the NOVA area, traffic is HORRIBLE up there along with cost of housing. I know people who drive from PA to DC to get to work!!!
What are others thoughts? |

That would be very cool.
But given that the government will be running it, it's budget will be bloated and fares will continue to rise in order to pay the increasing salaries of the board of directors.

Totally bad ass.
Won't happen for a long time, either.

I think it is a great idea if they actually build it instead of just throwing money at it.
Of course I would be in favor of the PA Corridor that connects Philly to Pittsburgh (with future extensions from Philly to DC and NY, etc, and from Pittsburgh to the west...)
I can dream, can't I?

DC to NYC is a very busy corridor, it would probably do very well
lots of people that are afraid to fly that still drive or take the slow train would go for it.
not to mention being able to take a day trip up to NYC and the travelling is .. what an hour?
absolutely.
hell people could commute from DC to NYC for our "low rent" |

I like the idea...it would be a nice alternative to air travel. I just hope another government agency won't be created to operate the system (if it ever happens). |

I'm assuming the plan involves building new train tracks. I can't see how you can put 100+ MPH trains on the same tracks that 40 MPH freight trains are on.
