| Palin Resigning as Governor What the...??!?
As a career move, this makes no sense whatsoever. Quote: |
"We know we can effect positive change outside government at this moment in time on another scale and actually make a difference for our priorities," Palin said in a news conference alongside a lake in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska.
| How?
Is she getting out to duck the ethics investigations?

WASILLA, Alaska -- In a stunning announcement, Gov. Sarah Palin said Friday morning she will resign her office in a few weeks. Speculation has swirled for weeks, perhaps months that Palin would not seek re-election in 2010 as she pursues a political career on the national stage. The former vice presidential candidate has long been rumored to be considering a run at the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.
| Surprised? This has been in the works for several months. Yet I can understand your concern. The official announcement itself was unexpectedly so soon. That and the political ramifications.

Not running for re-election has been in the works. Running for President has been in the works. Resigning with nearly half your term to run, in the middle of major battles with the legislature, has not been in the works.
Look, sometimes, when you're running for a higher office, it makes sense not to be embroiled day-to-day in the business of a lower one. That's why Bob Dole resigned from the Senate, and it's why John Edwards didn't seek a second term. But neither did it under fire, walking out and leaving a shambles behind. |

And I completely understand Theo. But we can't assume she pulled a "Sanford" on an ethical level just yet. If there's fibers of unethical lint we'll find it in the dryer trap soon enough. The issue is the media is pulling wet clothes out before letting the cycle run.
I'm no huge Sarah supporter but she deserves the benefit of the doubt, same as I cut some slack with Sotomayer. Watch what they do and not what they say. |

I'm willing to cut her slack. What I'm saying is that this doesn't make a lot of sense from any point of view. |

I'm sure the truth finally came out about her giving birth to a two headed werewolf.
One issue with ethics charges is that they are free of charge to bring and expensive for her to defend against.
We'll see if she is clearing her calender for a WH run.
Romney can't win because he's Mormon, and the MSM will eat him alive. Pawlenty is ok, but so far he's it. Jindal leaves me unimpressed.

And Palin is guaranteed a solid 100% of the 25% . . .

Maybe there's a reality show in the works. A stint on Deadliest Catch, perhaps?
Otherwise, it makes no sense to me either. |

It makes perfect sense, even though i was initially shocked by it. her enemies are bringing charge after charge after charge on her, and she's spent gobs of time and money defending them, and NONE of them has been found to be of ANY merit.
her political and ideological enemies have used the courts to tie her hands as governor, to be a financial drain.
The National Organization for Women is infuriated at the treatment of her... unsubstantiated charges being brought against her as a tool of removing her power - they're just IRATE at that and the mockery of her by the media and pop culture, and they're sick and ... oh wait... they're an ideological opponent as well. I guess NOW doesn't really represent women, but rather just another front of an ideology.
Her points in her (actual, non-teleprompter) speech were dead on. She had been pulled away from the duties of the office by all of these unsubstantiated lawsuits, and alaska was suffering for it. She and her family have been attacked and mocked almost daily. What's a mother to do?
