Yes and No, Toadman. It sux that people seem incapable of being more united in some fashion, though I'm not advocating homogony. On that same token it stinks that people in power are trying to force this upon a people not currently capable of such unification, though they are the ones in power, and the same problem that causes the lack of unification capability is the one they harness in order to further their own means as mankind is very malleable to the wills of the much more powerful. Most people want a leader and to be part of a winning team, and they often want it with as little effort as possible. This is why I think I see so many people like Cyphen who take a very partisan approach to their "mission", as attacking the same issue regardless of team requires upsetting all the teams involved and in this day and age that can result in group exile.
Mildly ironic that united on the macro picture is best obtained by division in the micro picture, or at least so it seems to be utilizing such strategy during most recent histories.
Though I must say, Toadman, I've seen a lot of posts by you lately that throw about the term "liberal" in an apparently inaccurate, inconsistent, and partisan manner

Then you don't get me, SJ... and you don't understand the difference between the classic liberal, which i consider myself to be - and consider the core of modern conservatism - and the "new" Liberal, which is very anti-classic-liberal. New Liberals, founded in the "new left" in the 60s is just a reinvention of stalinist marxism. I'm partisan to an ideology, not a party, which is laudable IMO. I won't abandon the core principles of freedom and equality simply for the sake of getting along with those who would subvert them.

For those who may have scoffed at my longstanding claims of "environmentalism" being used to institute socialist/communist governance... Fox News Notes Communist Past of the 'Green Jobs' Czar | NewsBusters.org Quote: |
The administration’s “Green Jobs” czar, Van Jones, has a “very checkered past” deep-rooted in radical politics, including black nationalism, anarchism, and communism.
| Quote:
Americans for Prosperity Policy Director Phil Kerpen, told interviewer Brian Kilmeade that Jones is “somebody who was involved in radical politics in San Francisco, “who was self-admittedly “radicalized in jail” and found “Communism and anarchism.” Kerpen compares Van Jones’s Communist past with his new quest for environmentalism and the creation of green jobs:
I think it’s pretty instructive what his past is...it’s the same sort of philosophy, the idea that government ought to be reordering society in accordance with some utopian vision that failed with communism and socialism, and will fail with this green jobs idea.
| Quote:
Aaron Klein reports that Jones himself stated in a 2005 interview his environmental activism was a means to fight for racial and class “justice,” and that he was a “rowdy black nationalist,” and a “communist.”
Because the administration’s “czars” do not go through congressional confirmation, and are therefore not scrutinized or vetted, many Americans have no idea who they are or where they come from.
| Quote: |
PHIL KERPEN, AFP Policy Director: He does. He has a very checkered past. This is somebody who was involved in radical politics out in San Francisco, California. He was arrested during a demonstration/riot following the Rodney King verdict. And he said himself that he was radicalized in jail, that he found communism and anarchism. And then he started a pretty radical, kind of communist, socialist, utopian group that was supposed to end all racism though central planning. And then he decided that the real path the sort of progressive nirvana, was the this green jobs idea. I think its pretty instructive what his past is, I am not just trying to smear the guy, but I think it’s the same sort of philosophy, the idea that government ought to be reordering society in accordance with some utopian vision that failed with communism and socialism, and will fail with this green jobs idea. We are imposing a top-down vision.

That doesn't matter one iota, Theo. It's still control over our lives. Surely you must see the trend in yielding authority (or attempting to yield authority) to global entities, and the role of Global Warming hysteria in all of that. And just because he doesn't specifically say governMENT, doesn't mean it won't BE governMENT. |

Yes. He thinks he's a libertarian, but he's only a Republican. |
