The murdered Don - named yesterday as Mario Bacio Terracino - was hit first in the arm and then taken out by a 'classic' single shot to the back of the head as he stood outside a busy bar.
His killer, dressed in jeans, bomber jacket and baseball cap, then calmly walked away from the scene - as horrified customers stand stunned at the brazen daylight assassination.
A sequence of still images taken from a video released by prosecutors in Naples October 29, 2009, show the May 11, 2009 killing of Mariano Bacio Terrasino, 53, outside a bar in central Naples. Italian prosecutors released on Thursday a shocking video of a mafia-style murder in Naples met with indifference by bystanders, hoping it would help break a wall of silence over the identity of the killer.
Enhanced footage showed the hitman SMILING as he pulled the trigger and also giving the traditional Neapolitan 'horned fingers' sign with his free hand as he pulled the trigger. This gesture is seen as an insult and a means of wading off bad luck.
Terracino's murder - captured on CCTV footage and released on YouTube last night - was believed by cops in Naples to be linked to an ongoing feud between rival clans over the control of lucrative drug-trafficking routes.

Tell me, does this make you MORE willing to kill someone, or LESS willing?

I'm glad that wasn't really graphic - I'm not a fan of watching anyone die, but I wanted to see this hand sign they mentioned and the face of the killer. But now I have to ask what's the point of releasing this video, and why in the hell was the culprit's head pixel censored?

Squeamish? All those video games and R-rated movies have desensitized me from violence and have probably predisposed me to becoming a murderer someday.

?? The culprits head wasnt censored. The reason it looked so bad is because of the crappy cameras and recording practices. The cameras probably capture @10-15 FPS, and in low quality(320x240). The man you saw ~about 6-11 seconds in, shoot and walk away with just his nose/mouth/chin exposed was the killer. The witnesses faces were censored(the big white baloons).
Um, no, it isnt that we care about the Mafia in Italy, its that there was a thread about public executions earlier. Well the complaints against it got me wondering if the people who were so against public executions would complain about how the mafia offed their members.
Dont you think it is news worthy? Nor worthy of discussion(though not many people have discussed it or even been interested in it)?
