| Bloomberg Wins Narrowly Despite MegaBuck$.
Mr. Bloomberg, after spending some $100 million + on the Mayoral Election, won over little-known Comptroller William Thompson by 4% of the vote, 50% to 46%.
Republican Michael Bloomberg was expected to win by about 12%.
Some have touted this as a symbolic "defeat" for Bloomberg.
William Thompson ran --somewhat unabashedly --as the Democratic candidate.
Bloomberg had gotten the NYC Council to overturn term limits of two terms, by running for a third term.
Draw your own conclusions.

It looks like Corizine is losing...
Obama is getting a stiff message, and so is House and Senate members up for re election in the next cycle.
I think this will radically change the health care "debate". "debate" being a bad choice of words, since the Republicans are excluded.
We'll see how long that lasts.

| Republicans take two Statehouses
including "bellweather" New Jersey.
It should be noted, however, Corzine carried some personal baggage into the election. However, Pres. Obama had campaigned for him in the State, Quote:
updated 13 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - Republicans surged to victory in two governors' races Tuesday, wresting control from Democrats and delivering a blow to President Barack Obama heading into next year's congressional elections.
The victories in Virginia and New Jersey were triumphs for a Republican Party looking to rebuild after being booted from power in national elections in 2006 and 2008.
In both states, Republicans won the votes of independents who had been crucial to Obama's victory last year.

| Third Party Candidate with 43.7% of vote in Uopstate NY State.
Republican dropped out and supported Democrat for vacated Congressional seat. Democrat has 51% of vote against a Conservative Party candidate.
The Conservative Party is the third largest in NYS, but usuall polls in low single digits. Quote:
ALBANY, N.Y. - Democrat Bill Owens had an early lead in a special Congressional election in northern New York that grabbed national headlines in its final days as it highlighted divisions within the Republican Party.
Owens led with 51.4 percent to 43.7 percent for Doug Hoffman, a member of New York's Conservative Party, with just 29 percent of precincts reporting in New York's 23rd House district.
Republican Dierdre Scozzafava, who withdrew from the race Saturday, still picked up 4.9 percent of the vote.

Mr. Bloomberg gives dopey Victory speech, talking to crowd like children.
Can't help noticing mention of progress over "special interests". HuH?
This just reminds me of the disconnect between those who live in a world of multi-million self-congratulary bonuses and those who live from paycheck to paycheck. Unfortunately, NYC liberals are part of that disconnect and are removed from struggles of those for whom hunger is a major problem of our great cities.

On a more serious note, I think there some hints here that the electorate is getting fed up.
Bloomberg --once he reached the $25 million mark --which was 2 1/2 X his opponant-- should have stopped.
Every other buck only created resentment.
I couldn't go to the Internet without having adverts pro-Bloomberg chasing me.
The other $75 million only infuriated people as cavalier and cynical.
Since Obama was in NJ, why hadn't he crossed the river to endorse Thompson?
Probably because he thought as polls showed that Thompson would lose by 12 - 18 % and didn't want to attach himself to a loser. Instead Thompson won considerable prominance and --who knows --could run for Governor.
Actually had he come in, the outcome might have been closer or even a Thompson victory as Obama, who still has some risidual clout in NYC, had crossed the river to campaign, giving Thompson some much needed media coverage to counter the Bllomberg bucks.. Instead he bet on Corzine --and lost.
This must be an embarrasment for Bloomberg who stooped to overturn turn limits that had been put in by referendum, and then blew a wad for indifferent results. He can claim vistory, but to many he appears lost in space.NYC was very strongly pro-Obama. If he looses enthusiasm here, where will he keep it.
Im sure the Replicrats are looking hard at 2012.
Ha! that is, if they can avoid a Palin/Limbaugh ticket!

I do think that a narrow win by Bloomberg signals a resistant undertone by the voters.
Yet, I don't read much into the NJ race. No matter how much the Republicans want to label this as a referendum on Obama, it isn't. NJ has a bad economy and the voters are punishing Corizine.
These races, where no national elections are held, are the least participated. Only the hard-liners get out. The tea-baggers were energized this year and they're voting in greater proportion. Dems stayed home. It doesn't represent the will of the masses.
It's kind of ironic. Bush blows up the economy and Democrats get the fallout.

hey what a great idea, this is good
this is what you do, if you apply for a job and you get the job but than something on your job falls apart blame it on the guy that had the job before you, it's not like you asked for the problems when you applied for the job, you just wanted the golfing fun
I'm telling you this is great, anything goes wrong at work I'm blaming the guy that had the job before me,
