A murderer who has genes linked to aggressive behavior is receiving a reduced sentence. Murderer with 'aggression genes' gets sentence cut - life - 03 November 2009 - New Scientist Quote:

A judge's decision to reduce a killer's sentence because he has genetic mutations linked to violence raises a thorny question – can your genes ever absolve you of responsibility for a particular act?
| We have already seen a great reduction of personal responsibility. Should we allow more violent behavior due to genes?

Genetics may make you predisposed, but they don't make your decisions for you. |

Just remove the gene by any means possible.

At this rate, simply being provoked could be enough to justify criminal behavior.
"He started it" - Never worked when we were kids, but maybe someday it will for adults.

if you have an uncontrolled gene which causes you to become violent then there should be an increased sentence not decreased.
You jail people to protect society as well as punish. this guy if released probably needs a tatoo on his forehead saying dangerous animal beware. |

Increased sentence? Yeah that makes sense...
The article says he has genes linked to aggressive behavior. They're not the determining factor in his actions. He could have done this without these genes. But that's besides the point.
It's like Whir said, genetics may make you predisposed - not enough to actually factor into someones sentencing. |
