A defendant is much more likely to be sentenced to death if he or she kills a "high-status" victim, according to new research by Scott Phillips, associate professor of sociology and criminology at the University of Denver (DU).
    Really? Does this surprise anyone??

If one gang banger kills another, IMO, it's a win-win. Just what is the problem with criminals killing each other?

Just leave the law abiding people alone.
Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

hey can we make this story a little more biased?

    Lets compare apples to oranges.

    How bout a

white scumbag who kills a white or hispanic middle class person with a college degree and a family.

or a black scumbag who kills a black or asian middle class person with a college degree and a family.

or even a white gang banger who kills an innocent upper middle class black family man leaving a fatherless widow to take care of the kids.

I think the answer with out getting too bigoted is that we do not like when scumbags kill people who are honestly just trying to make a living. The more innocent the victim and the more that was sacrificed (and the sadly prettier the person) the more you will tug on heart strings and piss off the public, cops, DA, and media.

it is not as much race as scumm vs honest people.
