Curious, yay or nay to medical cannabis?

I just wanted to get a feel for how many members are okay with medical marihuana.

Not looking to get into arguments. Just a simple yes or no.

We can have the argument thread later. <3

Prescribed by a real doctor, I don't see a problem with it.

    Ditto this thought.

Then again, legalizing it across the board (forcing regulation) could also be a good idea. Too many illegal grow operations in California end up in smoke from stupid pot growers.

Don't use it, never have. Don't have a problem with others using it.

+1, Same here on both points.

Also Using it don't have a problem, if its prescribed, Abusing it, on the other hand, not a fan of.

as for myself, I'd have to be in some pretty bad pain before I'd touch the stuff myself, with nothing else working or allergic to other means. just my feelings on it.

Haven't used in over twenty years. (Haven't had a drink in that same length of time.)

Yes, medical uses would be fine by me. However I have yet to find a Doctor that agrees that there are medical uses...

Also yes, that legalization may be useful and benefitial. However without better tests of the effects of such a wide change in legal policy I am not going to offer my full support to this option.

Agreed, legalize it and tax it, like cigarettes and alcohol.

If marijuana is to be legalized, then quit pussy footing around with "medical marijuana." Set the controls that should be established. I believe in legalization with controls (minimum age, places of use) much like alcohol.

I don't particularly like the "States Rights" movement about medical marijuana. First States Rights about marijuana, then States Rights about civil rights! I grew up in the Civil Rights era and "States Rights" leaves a foul taste in my mouth.

Marijuana is a legitimate medicine with legitimate medical uses. As a medicine, I support its legitimate medicine uses. But I also ask, "Is this the best medicine for the condition being prescribed?" Smoking is smoking and has its own set of damages to the body.

But like any other medicine, too many Doctor Feelgoods are writing bogus prescriptions. Michael Jackson had a doctor by his bedside giving him prescribed medicine. What's the difference.

The available marijuana is not the marijuana I smoked in the Hippie Days. I graduated high school in San Francisco in 1967 (Summer of Love). This new marijuana is genetically cured and more powerful than hashish. It's like comparing beer to straight Barcardi 151 on oz o oz basis. Drinking 12 oz of beer is not the same as drinking 12 oz straight of rum. People are now winding up in hospitals with psychosis because of the "begnin" marijuana.

Ok.. here's a descenting vote. In most cases, when a vice (such as pot, drinking etc) is hailed for it's virtues, there are other ways to get the same benefit. An example would be those who say drinking a glass of red wine is good for you, it's been proven that the benefits (antioxidants I think) are from the skin of the grapes and can be obtained by drinking grape juice.

In the same light, I believe the active ingredient in marijuana has been replicated in pill form hasn't it? Sythesising it in a lab like other medicine.

So no, I'm not in favor of it being called a medicine. What's next? Legalizing prostitution nationwide to help those with sex addiction?

I think that anyone who can buy alcohol should be allowed to purchase marijuana.

I agree with everything except your potency comparison.

In hospitals with psychosis? Cut me a break.

It's rediculous to present todays mj as something dangerously potent. It's a 20-30 minute high at best, whether it's fantastic pot or average. It's just pot in the 60's and 70's was that bad.

Yes legalize it for medical use, and put it in the pain relief section in between pepto bisomo and aspirin.

Yes, and allow it to become a cash crop again. Paper, rope, hemp seed oil, clothing, etc.
