Immigration Los Angeles Students to Be Taught That Arizona Immigration Law Is Un-Ame
FOXNews.com - Los Angeles Students to Be Taught That Arizona Immigration Law Is Un-AmericanThe Los Angeles Unified School District school board wants all public school students in the city to be taught that Arizona's new immigration law is un-American.
The school board president made the announcement Tuesday night after the district's Board of Education passed a resolution to oppose the controversial law, which gives law enforcement officials in Arizona the power to question and detain people they suspect are in the U.S. illegally when they are stopped in relation to a crime or infraction.
Critics of the law say it will result in racial profiling.
The school board voted unanimously on Tuesday to “express outrage” and “condemnation” of the law, and it called on the school superintendent to look into curtailing economic support to the Grand Canyon State. About 73 percent of the students in the school district are Latino.
But supporters of the law say the school board is way out of bounds and that the measure will just distract from the children's education.
“This is ridiculous, it’s ridiculous for us to be involved in Arizona law,” said Jane Barnett, Chairman, Los Angeles County Republican Party. “There is a 50 percent dropout rate in some parts of the school district—is this going to keep kids in school?”

It's been taught in Latino and Hispanic Studies for a decade now. Only now it's got some Che Guevara teeth of oppression to it.

Can't say I'm surprised by this news. Students have long been pawns in a larger political game between school districts, parents, and others who toy with the curriculum. My history class in Michigan (only two non-white students in the entire school) taught a curriculum that made it seem like minorities have been causing problems in the U.S. since the start of the country.
Teachers should be able to discuss the topic in class, and ask for student input into the topic, but the school board IMO shouldn't try to add pressure to Arizona to change the law.
On another note... seriously, more links to FoxNews articles?
They surely never leave out details, ignore talking to certain people, and show an obvious slant. Also, shame on you for obviously leaving something out that sort of is relevant to the article:
“The Board of Education directed the Superintendent to ensure that LAUSD civics and history classes discuss the recent laws enacted in Arizona in the context of the American values of unity, diversity, and Equal Protection for all. Much like a number of controversial periods and laws that are part of our history and are currently taught including:
-- Slavery
-- Jim Crowe laws and segregation
-- Native American reservations
-- Residential schools (for Native Americans)
-- The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882
-- Anti-Irish racism in the 19th century
-- Racism against immigrants from Southern and Eastern Europe in the 20th century
-- Anti-Semitism
-- Internment camps for Japanese Americans during World War II
-- The Mexican Repatriation Program (1929-1939)."

What's new. They are extensively taught one part of history: that America once belonged to Mexico.
There are clinics in the Bay Area called "Clinica De La Raza" - IE
"Clinic for The Race". Try getting away with that, whitey!

Bottom line, we allow these people in, feed, clothe and ecucate them, tell them America sucks and we stole it from them anyhow, and then we have the nerve to deport them?
Welcome to the "El Norte" - AKA "Occupied northern Mexico".Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

After reading something like this, why not just give Cal. back to Mexico and be done with it. Put up a fence around California and blockade the ports. Then they can fend for themselves. Make it bi-lingual state Spanish and Austrian. Ya voule , Seniors and Senoritas

Chuckie, You might be able $ .50 on the dollar for your house if you sell by Independence Day.
No guarantees after that.

Oh, you silly people and your comments about California.
The economical impact alone would make you guys cry if California were to be handed to Mexico, slide into the ocean, or whatever other silly scenarios you have in mind. Illegal immigration is used from construction and field work all the way up to biomed work in California. We're profiting off of these people, and that's not going to change any time soon.

Boundaries
This is not China. The school has no right to discuss topics that are not approved by parents. How dare you bring the children into this and try to distort the truth. Arizona had the right to protect their borders. Just because CA likes illegals and has the money to pay for them, shouldn't force another state to do the same. Tell the drug cartel to enter CA and not AZ. I hope AZ increased the cost of electricity to CA or stop it completely.

Would that still hold true if the U.S. taxpayer has to bail out California - the most financially mismanaged state in the land?
That's the problem...it's gotta be made unprofitable for businesses to 'hire' illegals.Illegal immigration is used from construction and field work all the way up to biomed work in California. We're profiting off of these people, and that's not going to change any time soon.

Perhaps that can be done with the manual labor, but do you think the state (or federal) government want to touch the contractors who work with biotech, tech, and other major cash cow industries?
On the flip side, it's not uncommon to see signs around here notifying people where they can pick up day laborers.
Let's face it: the Arizona law won't help curb illegal immigration. Trying to build a big ass fence between the two nations won't help. And having some rednecks out in the desert chasing around border jumpers doesn't really help, either.

It's an employment program. Just like the War on Drugs, the War on Terrorism, the War on Poverty...now we have the War on Illegal Immigration. All are great at keeping people employed.
Perhaps Mexico is the next nation we should invade and transform. A vibrant Mexican economy means more people stay in Mexico.

Exactly. Too many sheep rely on law enforcement to proactively "protect" them. They are not personal bodyguards and not a personal LifeAlert nor ADT security. Their job is to enforce the laws and...
