HDCP MASTER KEY has been made available

Its claimed that DRM is dead. HDCP 'master key' supposedly released, unlocks HDTV copy protection permanently -- Engadget

Just as the MPAA is preparing to offer movies to customers at home while they're still in theaters by limiting playback to DRM-protected digital outputs only, the HDCP protocol they rely on may have been cracked wide open. All devices that support HDCP, like Blu-ray players, set-top boxes and displays with HDMI inputs, have their own set of keys to encrypt and decrypt protected data and if keys for a particular device are compromised, they can be revoked by content released in the future which will then refuse to play. Now, posts have been floating around on Twitter about a supposed "master key" which renders that protection unusable since it allows anyone to create their own source and sink keys.
FWIW DIGG claims to have a link to the key.

Let me ask you, What do you think?

Could this master key FINALLY KILL DRM?
They say technology slows down for no one. I know it outruns my wallet. I figure its because my wallet isn't light enough yet.

There is some mass absurdity in the content realms. For myself, and many others, I find it ridiculous that a digital copy on the PS3 network will cost me more than the DVD, and sometimes more than the Blu-Ray even - a copy I cannot resell or share. For what? The convenience factor may weigh in with rentals, but not with purchases.

Ultimately I see DRM as a massive failure of ingenuity on their part. With the exception of the most poor of consumers, there's no good reason a consumer can spend their own time and money pirating data and find it a better value than the mass-producible goods the industry is capable of doling out at healthy profit margins, so long as they operate efficiently.

But corruption and greed directly oppose that argument...

To throw some irony into the issue, the less they charge the more time people waste on their drivel the further we decay*, for our time is worth far more than the majority of content they provide and its lack of any positive personal or societal benefits. So their lack of ingenuity serves us well so long as it continues to reduce our time wasted staring at the color shifting pixel madness. As their greed now properly conveys: the cost of the time spent on this material is high.

    * for the cost of freedom is eternal vigilance and erode our vigilance this does well
