Argon gas for welding (is is restricted)
A guy at the tool store told me that you needed a license to purchase argon gas for welding. He said home land security was the reason. So is it a precursor for some nasty explosive or poison.
Being an inert gas I kinda can't see any logic in the restriction of this product.
is this guy all wet or is he right?

From what little bit I know he is ALL WET. BUT, I dont weld, so . . .They say technology slows down for no one. I know it outruns my wallet. I figure its because my wallet isn't light enough yet.

We have a bottle at my job and do not have a license to buy it, but ,hardly ever use it. I believe, you have to have license to SELL Argon.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOtab0BKOGY

I took up welding in trade school and I don't see how argon gas can be classified dangerous by our wonderful Homeland Security. These guys are nuts!

He probably thought you were a domestic terrorist who was up to no good.

That would be fine If I was buying fertilizer or bullets by the case. As I understand the risks posed by argon, I think he would have been better trying to keep me from buying a distilled water. It poses more of a risk for terrorism than argon
