U.S. Tightens Rules on Antibiotics Use for Livestock

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/12/us...a-says.html?hp

At least two million people are sickened and an estimated 99,000 die every year from hospital-acquired infections, the majority of which result from such resistant strains. It is unknown how many of these illnesses and deaths result from agricultural uses of antibiotics, but about 80 percent of antibiotics sold in the United States are used in animals.

Antibiotics and the percentage of these drugs NEED to be included on the labels of the food we consume!!
Basically stopped eating Pork and Beef after my transplant. Hoping that the fishermen aren't dumping antibiotics in the Ocean!!!!

Pickel, you're just suffering from all of the estrogens you're drinking in the contaminated water supply, it's the main reason for all the whine...

Pickel, just couldn't resist poking a little fun at ya!

It's pathetic how frail the FDA is. Given how severe this problem is, the correct solution is to ban the antibiotics entirely. This rule has an easy run-around, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see "Vets" begin to write prescriptions en masse at the behest of the industry.
As soon as a "business" friendly administration takes office (Romney), this pathetic rule will be overturned.

The FDA needs to man up and actually take care of this issue.
    Good job, friend-of-friends!

I was going to post, but tony_j15 said exactly what I would have said.
