Obama Was Definitely Absolutely Never Born in Kenya
Except when he claims that he was.
I still don't think he was, but this brings up an interesting counterpoint to those who take Ron Paul to task over his old newsletters.Good job, friend-of-friends!

You're comparing one of 89 blurbs written one by someone else in a literary catalog which Obama may not have even read to what Paul did? Seriously?
Contrast that to Paul who reaped millions of profits over many years from the newsletter that bore his name in the title and his signature at the bottom.[The literary agency] indicated that while "almost nobody" wrote his or her own biography, the non-athletes in the booklet, whom "the agents deal[t] with on a daily basis," were "probably" approached to approve the text as presented.
In other words, Paul's campaign wants to depict its candidate as a naïve, absentee overseer, with minimal knowledge of what his underlings were doing on his behalf. This portrayal might be more believable if extremist views had cropped up in the newsletters only sporadically--or if the newsletters had just been published for a short time. But it is difficult to imagine how Paul could allow material consistently saturated in racism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, and conspiracy-mongering to be printed under his name for so long if he did not share these views.Anyway... you tried to make this claim previously and then just disappeared. In that respect, whether or not Paul personally wrote the most offensive passages is almost beside the point. If he disagreed with what was being written under his name, you would think that at some point--over the course of decades--he would have done something about it.
If Wright was publishing the Barack Obama I Hate White People Quarterly and Obama was personally collecting millions of dollars via that vessel, I might think this is apples to apples.
Maybe you haven't read the articles:
They go on to report that the publishing operation was lucrative, generating almost $1 million dollars per year, and that "if Paul didn't know who was writing his newsletters, he knew they were a crucial source of income and a successful tool for building his fundraising base for a political comeback." At best, he didn't ask questions about an association that brought him a lot of money.
IS RON PAUL GUILTY OF MORE THAN NEGLIGENCE?
Do I think that Paul wrote the offending newsletters? I do not. Their style and racially bigoted philosophy is so starkly different from anything he has publicly espoused during his long career in public life -- and he is so forthright and uncensored in his pronouncements, even when they depart from mainstream or politically correct opinion -- that I'd wager substantially against his authorship if Las Vegas took such bets. Did I mention how bad some of the newsletters are? It's a level of bigotry that would be exceptionally difficult for a longtime public figure to hide.
For that reason, I cannot agree with Kirchick when he concludes that "Ron Paul is not the plain-speaking antiwar activist his supporters believe they are backing -- but rather a member in good standing of some of the oldest and ugliest traditions in American politics."
On the other hand, it doesn't seem credible that Paul was unaware of who wrote the execrable newsletters, and although almost a million dollars per year in revenue is a substantial incentive to look away from despicable content, having done so was at minimum an act of gross negligence and at worst an act of deep corruption. Indeed, Paul himself has acknowledged that he "bears moral responsibility" for the content.
Given its odiousness that is no small thing.
People who traffic in ideas have a responsibility to monitor what goes out under their names. Had someone published such offensive drivel under mine, I'd be furious, and I'd damn well identify and repudiate the author. Why has Paul failed to do so? In the hope that the story would disappear more quickly if he avoided it? Out of misplaced loyalty to a longtime supporter? Out of fear that if he turns on the author of the newsletters he's vulnerable to retaliation, or the revelation that he was in fact complicit in the content? Another reason? It's impossible to know. And for that reason, I can't blame Kirchick for reaching a different, darker conclusion than mine.

A thousand pardons for my disappearance.
I think the difference from one perspective is the "information" on Obama goes against his position, whereas with Paul a lot of it subtly re-enforces his views. We know he's against a close alignment with Israel, dwells on conspiracies, and is very mixed on gay rights.Good job, friend-of-friends!

"Information" that someone else wrote on one occasion... that he may never have had the occasion to read before it was published.
Versus decades of publications under your name with your signature at the bottom for the express purpose of lining your pockets.
I can't even think of an adequate comparison to an apple for that

This guy is a serial liar. I wonder what he got from the government in the form of assistance, and if he lied to get a better deal?
Hopefully, this won't be an issue after the election and he'll be packing.Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

Overwhelming Evidence
I believe the overwhelming evidence is that Ron Paul is horrifically out of touch and so is Obama. It is not simply the literary booklet or the 15 years on the website. It is MSNBC saying he was Kenyan-born, multiple African papers saying the same thing, his grandmother's and even his wife's comments. The mailman's testimony. The sealed records everywhere. The obviously forged birth certificate. Obama did not produce enough evidence to get the LOWEST LEVEL FEDERAL JOB yet he is President. It bothers everyone except those who want America to fall and for all of us to be citizens of the world.

May 30th, 2012, 11:44 AM #11I understand they got what they wanted and Obama will be on the ballot.Hey what was the outcome of the sheriffs fact finding mission to Hawaii?
Now they are going after his "missing years" and "missing grades" in college.Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

That sounds like.
We have you dead to rights you are not legitimate American. Whoops well we were wrong on that but we have you dead to rights on the next one
Sheriff probably should make more of a public statement about the validity of the birth certificate. He was more than pubic in his claims of the lack of authenticity. I don't believe he should be able to close the case with out publically addressing his findings in detail.
You should not be able to make a front page accusation and quietly ignore the results.
PS regardless of what the finding are regarding his Grades.
1) he would still be valid President even if he received failing grades in every subject.
2) Missing years are irrelevant because he meets criteria for being president (born in the USA, proper age, and lived most of his life in the states)
3) Even if he failed college it is not a requirement for office and by no account is he dumb.Last edited by Epidemic; May 30th, 2012 at 12:14 PM.

I find it kind of sad how conservatives are so philosophically bankrupt that they have to resort to fabrication in order to attack Obama's personal history; instead of actually engaging in a real debate about how to fix the economy. We could go on about how Romney's father was a Mexican from a radical cult, but what good would that serve?
I'd much rather point out that the Romney/Ryan budget plan would not only massively exacerbate wealth disparity in the country, but also by all accounts slow economic growth, if not actually causing another recession.
But whether contractionary budgeting (except for military spending, which ultimately means the budget wouldn't be getting smaller so much as the non-military section would get smaller, while the budget stays the same size, and the middle income tax burden increases, and real income declines as assistance for higher education, and healthcare is cut) could possibly help an anemic recovery isn't part of the debate.
No, the Republicans would rather entertain blithering blowhards like Donald Trump.
So that's the Republican position. We could solve real problems, or we can make up problems and pretend like we're looking for answers, so that we don't actually have to account for our terrible, divisive policies.
(And to clarify, this doesn't apply to all the conservative members on these boards, some maybe, but the point is that this is functionally the official position of the Republican party).Last edited by thephilosophizer; May 30th, 2012 at 03:39 PM.

The Republicans are no different than democrats. Each has a different view of the countries future, and is willing to go "all in" to get the White House.
I see no problem here. GWB produced his college transcripts without a fuss. It depends on what party you are in, I guess.
Obama has brought the suspicion on himself.Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

So what's next, Chuck? You going to ring up Ms. Zabest and have her go over Obama's transcript with her precision photoshop skills?

He's absolutely been the victor politically!
All it accomplishes is getting the general public to wonder why Republicans are concerned about birth certificates and not the economy. The Republicans really need to put this topic aside and put some duct tape over Donald Trump's gullet.
Not to mention that obsessing over this will only provide Obama with ammunition running up to election day that he can use to make Republicans look foolish.
