Pakistani doctor who helped CIA track down Osama bin Laden gets 33 years in prison

Pakistani doctor accused of helping U.S. gets 33 years in prison
Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- A Pakistani doctor accused of helping the CIA track down Osama bin Laden was sentenced Wednesday to 33 years in prison for treason, officials told CNN.
Shakeel Afridi was also fined $3,500 for spying for the United States, said Nasir Khan, a Khyber Agency official, and Fazal Mehmood, an official from the tribal court that handed down the sentence.
The court heard the case against Afridi for two months. The doctor was not afforded a chance to defend himself, which is in accordance with the laws of the tribal justice system, the two officials said.

We should jail break him just for spite.

May 23rd, 2012, 01:44 PM #4So, how would you feel if your doctor did blood tests and was forwarding the results to China to figure out how well their biological weapons would function?Afridi helped the CIA use a vaccination campaign in an attempt to collect DNA samples from residents of bin Laden's compound in the city of Abbottabad to verify the al Qaeda leader's presence there.
This man was a traitor to his country. The CIA program was absolutely atrocious. Is it any wonder so many from 3rd world nations treat us with hostility or are reluctant to accept vaccines?Good job, friend-of-friends!

Ok so a person whom their contry claims to want to capture, is upset that someone actually gave out the information they claim to want to give to the USA?
Osama was not a citizen of pakistan. Osama was a criminal according to their country.
We are not talking about an attempt to harm the country as in your biological weapon scenario.

History re visited

The USA has a history of betraying those who help them (remember bush senior?) (just a tiny of a long list...)
can you imagine how many points Obama would score over his opponent if he would take on chukcie's suggestion? (i was a second late after you
)
BTW it won't happen as as Pakistan is "vital" to USA security......as mistrust is mutual

Whoever gave the name of the doctor to Pakistan should be the one in jail, no the doctor.
Until the doctor is released the US should stop all assistance to that country.Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing

did we betray this doctor informant?
did we offer him asylum in payment that he turned down? We can apply pressure to not prosecute him but tribal justice system handed this down. I don't know if pakistan leadership could apply pressure to let doc informant go.
Is there a story on how doctor was caught and how we left to his own devices?

We should just freeze their foreign aid until he is released.
And open the pass into Afghanistan by force if they try to close it again.
The Pakistani government is not our friend and are playing us for suckers.Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

Down with Pakistan!
We not only need to freeze their foreign aid, but get call centers out of there. I'm tired of calling for customer service only to hear a damn Pakistani at the other end of the phone line.

The topic is Dr. Afridi. Not call centers. Let's get back on topic, please.
Good job, friend-of-friends!

Senate panel cuts Pakistan aid after country sentenced doctor who helped CIA | Fox News
And the Senate committee votes to cut 33 million from their aid package. Hopefully this is just for starters.
And there's more:
Members of the Senate Appropriations Committee also complained about mafia-style extortion by Pakistan in seeking truck fees in exchange for opening the supply lines. The cost had been $250 per truck prior to the attack. Pakistan is now demanding $5,000 per truck. The United States has countered at $500.Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

Actually it is more likely nationalist rather than racist. At least in my case, I want americans to work the call centers for american customers. I want a minimal communication barrier when I am trying to resolve a problem.
I couldn't care less what genes control their development and physical characteristics.

I like the idea of withholding AID until the doctor is freed.
