Exclamation Obama’s immigration maneuver could box in Romney, GOP

Obama’s immigration maneuver could box in Romney, GOP - Florida - MiamiHerald.com

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has fumbled when asked how he would handle such undocumented youths if he were elected president. And Sen. Marco Rubio, who began talking about his own immigration plan for young people this spring but never had a bill in writing, peevishly told national news outlets that the president should have called him.

I just LOVE the " peevishly " thingie!!! LMAO

That was a good political move on Obama's part. I would expect his next effort will be to forgive all student loans to gin up support there.

The real question is... does it help with voters in swing states? Swing states don't have the Mexican population of blue states. The more control Mexicans have over your demographic, the better it is for the democrats. Hard to argue with that logic.

And lastly, it's not just about students. He is really adding around 2 million "work permits" to "others". Obama didn't mention the other 1.2 million who are here working in similar circumstances that aren't in college. So the bigger question is whether unions, and "mom and pop" in general, and other low/semi skilled workers approve of the additional downward pressure on their wages, and a deepening of the labor pool.

All in all, it is not a bad idea. I'd like to see civil service give hiring preference to these people so we can cut the cost of government. Business will welcome the "immigrant work ethic at low wages", too!

It's a win - win for illegals and Obama, and has potential for state and local labor budgets.

If Romney wins, I suspect the republicans will make what Obama did permanent and legal.
Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!
