Scientists to unveil milestone in Higgs boson hunt | Reuters
Physicists who have been smashing particles together near light-speed at the CERN laboratory near Geneva have already seen tantalizing glimpses of the "Higgs boson", the missing piece of the fundamental theory of physics known as the Standard Model.
The world of science now awaits a mass of evidence big enough to be deemed a formal discovery. The secrecy surrounding Wednesday's announcement has fuelled speculation that nearly 40 years of research have reached a climax.

The scuttlebutt I heard this morning was they had some preliminary sigma levels close to 5. I'm not sure if that refers to a standard deviation or something else. But apparently its good.Good job, friend-of-friends!

I all happy for all the physicists, etc., etc,.. but exactly what is the significance of the Higgs Boson particle as far as physics is concerned?
Is it like the final "piece" of the "known" puzzle?Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

It's important because it is important because we don't know what it is and maybe there are more of them out there lurking in well we don't know where they lurk or what the look like only how they might act... or not...Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid...
