Blast Kills Core Syrian Security Officials
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/19/wo...s-flee.html?hp
A lethal bomb attack in Damascus struck at the heart of President Bashar al-Assad’s inner circle Wednesday, killing at least three of his most senior aides, including his minister of defense and brother-in-law, in the most audacious challenge to the government’s grip on power since the Syria uprising began 17 months ago.
The multiple assassinations immediately called into question the continued ability of the state to function effectively, penetrating deep into the core of a regime that relies almost exclusively on an insular group of loyalists to organize and implement its military response to a now armed uprising.

Russia didn't supply them with gunships for a tourist attraction. Syria is Iran's only friend, and is the overland route for Hezbollah into Lebanon and Israel.
That's why the Russians are there. They understand the importance of having a pretense in Syria and keeping the USA's influence out when the Assad's finally make a run for it. (probably to Russia... go figure.)
Expect much more chaos. The Russian gun ships are there to kill off the rebels to show the Middle East the Russia has power and the USA is weak.
A Putin, Obama is not...
If the USA gained influence and Iran lost influence, the security of Israel and Lebanon would be greatly enhanced.
It should be an interesting weekend.Last edited by Chuckiechan; July 20th, 2012 at 01:56 AM.
Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!
