    Nanoparticle eradicates hepatitis C

This is amazing! Nanoparticle Completely Eradicates Hepatitis C Virus - IEEE Spectrum

Researchers at the University of Florida (UF) have developed a nanoparticle that has shown 100 percent effectiveness in eradicating the hepatitis C virus in laboratory testing.

The nanoparticle, dubbed a nanozyme, consists of a backbone made from gold nanoparticles and a surface with two biological components. One biological component is an enzyme that attacks and destroys the mRNA, which provides the recipe for duplicating the protein that causes the disease. The other biological part is the navigator, if you will. It is a DNA oligonucleotide that identifies the disease-related protein and sends the enzyme on course to destroy it.

Not to crap the thread too hard, but these are the researchers - yea, I know. I'm generalizing. They could all be "Good 'ol boy" nicknames...

Fortunately, we are able to attract talent from overseas. But more and more foreign born Asians are returning to home countries doing research there.

There are plenty of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese researchers working in biotech and biopharma labs across the state of California. Many of them are educated here, but quite a few of them are educated at some of the best universities across Asia. Don't worry, they aren't all fleeing back to their home countries.

Besides that, if you want to do top notch research and be financially rewarded for it, the US biotech industry is where you want to be.

I hope we can keep it that way... and not let it get purloined to China.

Even if it were true, what would it prove other than most First World countries adequately fund their science programs instead of grumbling over "saving" a few tax dollars like we American do?

And now back to your regularly scheduled bigoted thread derailment, already in process...
    Good job, friend-of-friends!

Science is no different than business when it comes to the acquisition of talent. When you're trying to solve problems, you want the best people you can find. Perhaps if the United States took math and science education more seriously, you'd have the comfort of seeing more Anglican names on these reports!

Nope, that's why I put this thread in here... let the off topic crapping fly! I wondered where you guys would take this amazing information, that of course would be no real interest to anyone- other than for its spin value.
This is crazy amazing only in the future science happening today- of course it should turn it into some kind of self deprecating racially charged disagreement.

BTW, if you've ever had, or know someone that's had hepatitis C, you know that the current treatment is often worse than the disease and a pot shot at best.
