Israel prepares for battle to secure chemical weapons

The potential breakdown of the Syrian regime has reportedly paved the way for any number of Islamist terror groups, including Al Qaeda, to blend in with the Free Syrian Army, giving them cover to get at the a chemical weapons stockpile Assad acknowledges having. That could potentially pose a massive threat to Israel’s security and inflict significant civilian casualties, according to experts.

Another day another conflict. With it another region shattering climax. Truly, Syria needs to discover Magic the Gathering and leave other countries alone (in all honesty they could focus on their own economy and socio-political problems... but in Muslim countries in that region, it's always easier to blame others than to fix one's self).

Israel has had to put up with a lot over the years and there is no end in sight. I've been there a number of times (in fact, many times) and I can't recall a single time of peace. The country's in that region are very hostile to Israel (obviously the issue dates back quite a long time to the Creation of the State of Israel - linked for those that don't know the history and Israel's claims dating back to the Old Kingdom).

The fact that Islamist terror groups have infiltrated the FSA does not surprise me. The fact that Syria does not openly acknowledge their anti-Semetic tendencies after this long is absurd (it isn't about land it's about religion and dominance in that region of the world, whoever doubts that is in denial).

The fact that news sources use the Middle East conflict as a means of boosting their political affiliations here in North America is a long standing affair. And politicians themselves need to stop shaking hands and grinning like fools and start helping out anyway they can even if they don't have an election to win. When the elections are all over there are countries that need the world's support. The news coverage can be positive in that people that really do care about such conflicts can learn more about it and hopefully find a way of helping, so I'm not knocking any particular news station, source or report.

This is a frightening situation and I hope IDF and/or international forces can defuse this particular situation as soon as possible. But the truth is without global support Israel's neighbors will always be hostile. Would the US tolerate hate/bombings/air drops/etc. from Canada and Mexico at their borders? No.

I'm not sure how to promote peace in the Middle East. I'm not sure if peace is even possible but I sincerely hope something positive will happen in that part of the world.
