The future of GNU & Linux
So there are a number of GNU/Linux operating systems out there (nearly every free one imaginable) but very few the GNU Project sponsors or even endorses publicly. This is their prerogative but I'm wondering what that means for GNU or the FSF in general, public opinion of GNU and also what people think of GNU/FSF endorsed operating systems?
As to why they doesn't support the myriad of GNU/Linux operating systems out there: Explaining Why We Don't Endorse Other Systems - GNU Project - Free Software Foundation
What do you think about Trisquel and other FSF endorsed systems? I've heard a lot of negative thins about such systems from lack of hardware support to the systems themselves being updated less frequently than major Linux/free Unix distros.
What's in store for GNU and the FSF as a whole? Simply as a licensor of free open source software or something more?
How do you feel about the ideology behind free software distribution (as it relates to operating systems and/or source code) and what role do you think it plays in modern times?
(Was going to put this in our Linux section but felt this is more of a debate post. I'd like to generate some discussion on the issue.)Last edited by Interrupt; July 29th, 2012 at 11:53 AM.

Yes. Religious issues are quite proper for this forum.

Just figured some folks aren't big into the FSF, have different feelings about open source, etc.

BTW, if the transmission is not computer controlled, and especially if the engine is running a carb, take a look at the kickdown linkage as well.
