No Facebook account = mass murderer?
I don't have a Facebook account, in fact I avoid "social applications" like I avoid the plague.Facebook Abstainers Could Be Labeled Suspicious - Slashdot
As examples they use Norwegian shooter Anders Breivik, who used MySpace instead of Facebook and the newer Aurora shooter who used adultfriendfinder instead of Facebook. They already consider those with Facebook accounts, who lack friends to be suspicious, but now they are suggesting that anyone who abstains from Facebook altogether may be even more suspicious."
I have go to ask, Do you consider anyone who does NOT use Facebook as suspicious? They say technology slows down for no one. I know it outruns my wallet. I figure its because my wallet isn't light enough yet.

I think everyone who spends more then ten minutes a week on FB to be suspicious.
Imagine a world where dogs took bad owners to the pound...

I find them neither suspicious nor pure as the driven snow.
There are a million reasons to have facebook and a million to not have a face book.
you choose based on your own needs.
Personally I have an under utilized facebook account, I find it adds some value to my life. but if FB were to go bankrupt and go dark tomorrow it would not phase me.
the only serious loss would be my ability to communicate with Siliconjon (he is still conspiracying away there) and my favorite movie theater does not communicate through conventional means so it is the only way I can electronically find out what is playing at the 5 dollar movie place.

My wife uses my e mail address on FB for something to do on a Farmville account. I didn't know I even had one!
Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

I'm on Linkedin, and have a subminimal presence (no circles) on Google+. I avoid Facebook like the plague.

Just curious, Why?
is it because you feel you will get sucked into it wasting too much time?
or is it you don't feel it neccesary to connect with old friends and aquaintances?
or...? (what causes you to liken it to a "Plague")
I find it to be find in small doses. I see alot of tripe and silly posts but it is nice on occasion to see old friends and even hear what is going on in their lives. On occasion I might get an invite to a party, or see something I would not have thought of doing.

I hate Facebook - it annoys me to see how unbalanced the majority of people are...and honestly I don't care what most people are doing throughout their day.
That said, I'm not completely anti-social media..I use Twitter from time to time and LinkedIn.Last edited by TrendyMartini; August 7th, 2012 at 12:31 PM.

ahhhh.
Thus far I don't care much if they give my info away.
Although to be honest I have not looked at what info is potentially at risk.

The only thing at risk is what you put there.
Internet or Privacy. Pick one, as the saying goes.
Personally, I think the only reason people are making a stink about Facebook is because ol' Zuck actually is relatively open about what he does. I guarantee you your credit card company is tracking you and selling the data. So I laugh when people say "I'm not on FB because of privacy," then stop to answer their cell phone while paying for dinner with a credit card. (Over the top, I know)Good job, friend-of-friends!

I use Facebook and I have schizophrenia. Wow! I'm not going to murder a bunch of people like bat crazy Jared Loughner.
One thing I hate about Facebook is all the requests for Farmville and shit.

I mostly use Facebook for news feeds, interesting stories, and to keep track of products/things that interest me. I rarely use it for the "friend" aspect. I prefer face-to-face for that, though it FB does have its merits. If I was 20 years older, I probably wouldn't bother with it.

Face to face is difficult for people that live half a country away.
Or for people I have list touch with. It is nice to peek into their lives to see if I still have anything in common with them.

Implying a knife, ball bat, cast-iron pan, taser, or running the hell away would not have also been effective. She had the means, just not the intelligence to utilize her surroundings to her...
